BMW Reports their May 2009 earning today. Despite the continued downward sales as compared to last year, the numbers show that BMW had its best sales month of the year so far and also hit the 2 millions cars milestone in the USA.

The BMW M7 (or hybrid or M-sport) prototype has been spotted again, this time with a bulging hood which typically indicates an ///M engine underneath. However, the usual other signature ///M bits are missing, such as quad tail pipes and side fender accent.

Augusto Farfus (BR) was the winner of the FIA World Touring Car Championship’s tenth round. At the “Circuit de la Comunitat” in Valencia (ES), the BMW Team Germany driver scored his tenth WTCC victory. Jörg Müller (DE) finished second, thus making it the first BMW one-two since Brno 2008. The other BMW national team drivers also collected points: BMW Team UK’s Andy Priaulx (GB) was fourth, while Alessandro Zanardi (IT) and Sergio Hernández (ES) came fifth and sixth respectively for BMW Team Italy-Spain. In the first race of the day Hernández secured pole position for race two by finishing eighth, with Farfus, Müller and Priaulx coming fourth, fifth and sixth. Victory went to SEAT driver Yvan Muller (FR).

BMW announces a limited edition “M3 Edition Model” to be available for 6 months starting this summer. There will be special exterior colors (including Dakar Yellow/Monte Carlo Blue), as well as special interior and wheels.

BMW has the luxury of being able to shift subtly the emphasis of the new 5-series Touring. Thanks to the arrival of the new 5-series Gran Turismo – unveiled last week – the new Five estate can fulfil a slightly different role. CAR Magazine has managed to snap some more photos of the upcoming wagon variant of the 5 series undergoing testing and it does look mighty fine.
