BMW is pushing ahead with its second-generation Efficient Dynamics green car technology – with help from space scientists at NASA.

Employing a thermoelectric generator similar in principle to those developed to power satellites will, according to BMW’s head of development Klaus Draeger, boost economy by some 5% on the combined cycle. Expect to see the new Efficient Dynamics tech in showrooms by 2014.

In what appears to be more the result of the ongoing global economic and financial crisis than anything else, BMW reported that in the first two months of 2009, its Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales in the U.S. are up by a staggering 24 percent to 19,000 units and the company is on track to beat last year’s record number of 104,000 units. That’s compared to the firm’s 34,9% plunge in U.S. new car sales in the first two months of the year (12,979 units in Jan/Feb 2009 vs. 20,775 units … CONTINUED

New insider reports point to the fact that BMW is working turning the concept CS car into a production car under the GT name. The so called GT 6 will very closely resemble the CS except in a shorter and smaller package. This car is going to be a direct competitor to the MB CLS!

Got an email from my dealer in Philadelphia (BMW Main Line) saying that the new Z4 would be in the showroom for 2 days. Took some pictures yesterday. The pictures dont do justice to the car; it loooks so much better in person.
