The latest BMW emergency vehicles will make their debuts at the RETTmobil trade show in Fulda.
BMW Group will be presenting from 15 to 17 May 2013 an up-to-date overview of its range of purpose-built emergency vehicles. BMW will be exhibiting a total of seven different models – a BMW X6 M50d designed as a medical car for the racetrack and a BMW X3 as a fire brigade command vehicle at the main entrance, a BMW X1 “First Responder” and, at the exhibition booth, a BMW X3 and a BMW 3 Series Touring as emergency medical services vehicles, a BMW 5 Series Touring as a fire brigade command vehicle as well as a public authority version of the new F 800 GT motorcycle.

Did you know that the BMW 3 Series Touring had its origins in a wrecked E30 3 Series sedan? BMW engineer Max Reisböck created what became the prototype for the first 3 Series Touring based off his desire for a larger and roomier car, by way of a $14,000 budget, a friend’s garage, and a wrecked E30 sedan.
The story about the invention of the BMW 3 Series Touring and the beginning of the lifestyle touring. Engineer Max Reisböck wanted to go on vacation with his family, but in the mid 80’s regular BMW’s were too small for his luggage. That’s why he invented the BMW Touring out of a wrecked 3 Series Sedan. Finally, the board of BMW took over his idea.

The reveal of the all new 2014 BMW X5 (F15) is imminent, but testing continues on the F15 X5 M.
Testing on the F15 X5 M began last year [first sighting], but current mules have now dropped much camouflage. What’s revealed are the expected signature M components - huge front air intakes, aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X5 model). We also get a better look at the quad exhaust pipes which, unlike the current X5 M, feature a new angled design (like we’ve seen on the F82 M4 prototypes).
