This information is from BMW insider Scott26. According to him, on the heels of the BMW X6s success, they have been investigating downsizing the range and bringing the Sport Activity Coupe idea to the X3 range but with a bit more functional flair added and BMW would use the term Sport Activity Sedan. Such a car would likely be dubbed the X4. Internally, the car is known as the X-Style. The same ideas that went into the X6 would be translated to the X4, namely a more sloping and sleek roofline as well as bulging fenders giving the car a wider and lower look compared to its X3 counterpart. The car would also get a two way hatch similar to the … CONTINUED

Jon Sibal shares his latest renders of the 2012 3-series (F30) sedan, which is said by BMW insider Scott26 to be the closest example yet. Resident photoshop guru Gerald Alvarez digitally strips away the remaining camoflage on the F13 2011 6-series convertible, revealing what we think will be a gorgeous drop top 6-series.
We previously reported that BMW will be introducing a front-wheel model for the next generation 1-series (in addition to traditional RWD models). The FWD 1-series models will likely be receiving 4-cylinder and 3-cylinder versions, leading some to lament that the FWD configuration along with a small motor points to these future models are being more about efficiency/budget than performance.
However, if Autocars "sources" are to be believed, the future entry level 3-cylinder 1-series models are not considered as "entry level" models, but will serious, refined, sporting engined cars with great CO2 figures. We certainly hope this to be true and that BMWs sporty car philosophy continues throughout its future lineup.
