A BMW spokesman talking with iMotorMag states that there is no business case for making an M Roadster/M Coupe based on the Z4 due to the poor economic climate.
However, the good news is that they do reveal that BMW is planning an M Sport package which will include a body kit, large alloy wheels, tuned suspension and an M-branded steering wheel. In the cards is talk of an ECU remap upgrade to boost engine output of the 3.0-litre twin-turbo by an extra 20hp taking the total to 326hp.
BMW made similarly strong statements with the E85 Z4 as well but finally caved in after a few years of enthusiast demands — so im not ruling it out … CONTINUED

Is the rumored little roadster from BMW on track for a 2011 debut? Auto Motor und Sport seems to think so. They even have a rendering by renowned artist Mark Stehrenberger to prove it. The new car would rival the Audi R8 and forthcoming Mercedes SLC, and has been described by company insiders as a puristic two-seater that draws on all the very latest BMW technology and lightweight build processes.
The car is also intended to showcase BMWs Efficient Dynamics programme, combining fuel-saving technology such as direct injection, brake energy regeneration and stop-start.
A source privy to early design proposals says that the new BMW supercar will be the equivalent of a modern-day M1, a car that the company recently made reference to with the retro M1 Homage concept.
The as-yet-unnamed new model will be capable of combining supercar performance and driving dynamics with fuel consumption … CONTINUED
BMW is rumored to have plans to revive the 8-Series name for a potential “four-door coupe,” much like the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. New 8-series would compete closely with the new Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera.
Beginning of the year BMW placed Gerhard Richter in charge of development of its new Gran Turismo model, which is based on the popular CS concept car. New model will be called either simly GT, short for Gran Turismo or 8-series. Most likely the car will get the previous 8-series models name so that BMW can position it as the highest, most luxurious and expensive model.
