The next generation MINI is slated to arrive for 2013 and these are the first photos of the new model, out and about undergoing initial public road testing.
The new MINI is being co-developed with parent company BMW, under the new chassis code F56 (moving away from the ‘R’ chassis which may be sold to SAAB). The F56 is part of BMW’s broader platform sharing strategy that sees this new MINI on the same FWD platform as certain BMW 1-Series variants and a rumored BMW Z2 roadster.
The … CONTINUED
BMW’s FWD 1-series model based on the FWD UKL platform has been spotted for the first time! The UKL platform is a FWD platform which the FWD 1-series will share with the next generation of MINIs (which coincidentally [or not] was also spied testing for the first time today).
The FWD 1-series will come in a traditional 5-door hatchback (pictured here), a sporting estate model, and a gran touring version. They’ve been referred to by insider Scott26 as the “City Compact,” the “F.A.S.T. Family Activity Sports Tourer,” … CONTINUED
It’s usually the strange looking camouflaged prototype cars which get the attention in public, but that may not be the case here where one of our members in a Ferrari 458 caught an F30 3-series sedan prototype out testing in the canyons of Malibu, California.
The F20 1-series hatchback’s online reveal is imminent – perhaps as early as this week, if not the next. But testing of the model’s FEP prototypes continues. This particular vehicle is the 5-door hatchback variant, which is the basis model of the 1-Series, and just as in the previous generation vehicle, this model will not make its way onto US shores. However, this car will serve as the basis for the entire 1-series lineup (and rumored 2-series lineup – More Info), with a 3-door hatch … CONTINUED
We bring you the latest spyshots of the BMW E90 M3 Lightweight model allegedly called M3 EVO. BMW is performing last tests on the Nürburgring prior to the offical unveiling at the M Night on June 23rd. BMW allowed us an early glimpse at the car back in April. The M3 EVO is said to be slotted between a regular E9x M3 and the extreme M3 GTS. Powered by the already famous S65 V8 engine, we expect an output in the neighborhood of 440hp. BMW … CONTINUED
The F20 1-series sporting the M-sport bumper has been testing on the Nurburgring and we’ve captured it on photos. The rest of the F20 M-sport package has not yet been affixed on this car, but expect the usual set of M-sport wheels, rear bumper, sideskirts, and of course interior M-sport bits.
Very first spyshots allowing a clear look at the F10 M5′s ceramic composite brakes. We’ve spied F10 M5 prototypes quite often lately, but BMW still manages to show some surprise from mule to mule. Here are the very first spyshots allowing a clear look at the F10 M5′s anticipated ceramic composite brakes. Yes, you’ve read this correctly – BMW finally joins the pack and offers ceramic brake discs starting with the F10 M5. We’ve added side-to-side shots with the brakes as seen on the M5 Concept … CONTINUED
Here are some new photos of an Alpine White FEP prototype. Looks to the M5 concept for a good idea of what the camouflaged parts will look like on the production M5, although the mirrors and sideskirts will be the versions seen on the test prototypes.
Expected to debut at the M Festival at the Nurburgring in just over a month, the F10 M5 will feature the S63 Twin Turbo V8, rumored to produce more power and torque than the equivalent X5/X6M unit while producing 25% less … CONTINUED
Southern California appears to be a hotbed for FEP stage F10 M5 prototype testing, as multiple test cars are spotted each week. Another black F10 M5 prototype was just spotted last week (video/photos inside). The chase car was no slouch – an E39 M5, and it still had problems keeping up in the beginning of the video.
Although it remains clad in camouflage, we already know what the production F10 M5 will essentially look like by referencing the F10 M5 Concept, albeit with the mirrors and sideskirts … CONTINUED
Even clearer updated photos of the F20 1-series M Sport front fascia. The different angles show us just how aggressive the M sport bumper actually is. Check out the new set inside….
The Alpina B6 based on the 2012 6-series (F12) prototype has been spotted for the first time, on the streets of Germany. Typical to form, this B6 prototype can be identified by its Alpina wheels, quad exhaust, and lack of M style aero parts (meaning it’s not an M6 prototype). This prototype does not yet feature the eventual Alpina bodywork.
Expect the F12 B6 to feature the same powerplant as the F10 B5 (based on the current F10 550i sedan) – a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 good … CONTINUED
The 2012 BMW F12 M6 Convertible has lost most of its camouflage, so we’re happy to share the best shots to date. The F12 M6 has entered FEP or final evaulation phase, and this allows us a look at most of the signature M design and technology cues, including front bumpers, rear bumpers, and side skirts.
Despite some light disguise you can already see the sportier bumpers and huge air intakes needed to feed the 4.4-litre Twin-Power V8 engine internally dubbed S63 – we expect an output … CONTINUED
We bring you the very first look at the upcoming F20 1-series M-sport front end on a 135i hatchback, and it’s undoubtedly the most aggressive M-sport front bumper we’ve ever seen from BMW, owing to the integration of air curtain bodywork and deeply inset air inlets to direct more airflow to the air curtains.
The rest of the M-sport package has not yet been affixed on this car, but expect the usual set of M-sport wheels, rear bumper, sideskirts, and of course interior M-sport bits.
Besides the current … CONTINUED
An astute (and camera equipped) site member spotted this Le Mans blue F13 6-series coupe M-sport on the way to work this morning. This is the first time we have seen the 6-series coupe M-sport prototype with the actual M-sport wheels, which we uncovered last month. Thanks to LeMans335xiE90 for his efforts, as he was 1 hour late to work for bringing us this video.
Here is another video from a recent sighting on the LA freeways of the F10 M5 in Silverstone color. Even with the camouflage tape, the presence that the F10 M5 has on the road is undeniable.
Now that the BMW Concept M5 has been shown to the public, BMW has basicly unwrapped their test fleet of M5s– because we all know the shape. The benefit of that for us is that we get a preview of the M5 in a variety of colors, and so far we’ve gotten to see the car in Silver and White. Other popular colors such as Monte Carlo Blue have been shown off in the past, but unfortunatly with the body cladding still on the … CONTINUED
Just in, here are some brand new spy shots of the BMW Lightweight E90 M3 said to be called M3 EVO. Back in April, BMW teased us with a first surprise appearance of this car in Garching. Thanks to Klier and rususlikwho caught this car at the Nürburgring, we can now share another glimpse at this car.
Unlike the earlier spotting, this test car looks exactly like what has been presented in Garching. Dedicated front spoiler lip and rear spoiler supposedly made from some lightweight material, 6-piston … CONTINUED
With the arrival of spring in Germany, has come a torrid pace of BMW prototype testing. The F34 3-series GT (Gran Turismo) is once again out doing its testing runs in public. The camouflage remains the same as before, but additional angles gives us a better idea yet of its size, proportions, stance, and shape. Check out the newest set of spy photos inside.
