BMW looks to be expanding its eDrive plug-in hybrid offerings, with a 3 Series plug-in hybrid model now spied in testing. The X5 eDrive plug-in hybrid has already been testing since last year.
This prototype wears an obvious ‘Hybrid Test Vehicle’ sticker, but also shows a second fuel cap cover on the front left fender, covering the electric socket for charging.
As for specs? It’s likely to use the same engine and technologies from the X5 eDrive, which features a turbo 4 cylinder engine outputting 171hp, … CONTINUED
The F85 X5 M has been spotted in testing since late 2012, and now it’s time for the F86 X6 M to hit the test circuit.
It’s not difficult to identify this next generation X6 M as it bears the tell-tale M model signs – huge front air intakes, more aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X6 model). The newest M styling trends are also evident — the double-slatted kidney grilles and the angled exhaust … CONTINUED
It’s no secret that BMW has been on the forefront of weight reduction in volume production vehicles. Starting with their tie-up SGL Group and development of the BMW i vehicles, they have been finding great use for carbon fibre in weight reduction. The key to this is carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). While this highly touted material is being used in the BMW i vehicles, it has yet to make its way into a series production BMW, until now…
And so it makes sense that … CONTINUED

The X5 eDrive plug-in hybrid model has now been spotted undergoing testing. These may only be a couple of photos, but we already know what the F15 X5 looks like. We expect the X5 eDrive to launch sometime around late 2014 – early 2015.
As for specs? The X5 eDrive Concept model was unveiled at the Frankfurt auto show last September and featured:
New F48 X1 video as of January 6, 2014. We bring you the first live looks at the 2016 X1 (F48) prototypes. The F48 recently began its testing in August-September and while still heavily camouflaged, the test mules reveal a brawnier and stockier look than the current E84 X1. Compared to the E84, the F48 X1 features a shorter front end, shortened overhangs and a taller and more upright greenhouse. While some may mistaken the E84 X1 for a larger wagon, there’s no … CONTINUED
The first ever BMW X4 (F26) will be officially introduced in just over 4 months time at the 2014 New York Auto Show in April, which means it’s about time for the prototypes to drop nearly all their camouflage.
These photos now expose the X4′s front fascia design. We have also reposted the fully revealed production X4 which was caught during a commercial shoot in October. Some have labeled the X4 a “baby X6,” which is an accurate description judging by the looks of the … CONTINUED
We have added our newest photos of the 2015 BMW X5 M.
Testing on the second generation BMW X5 M continues while the prototypes shed some camouflage. This is the first red F85 X5 M we’ve seen and as with earlier prototypes, it wears the signature M components – huge front air intakes, more aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X5 model). We also have a better look at the … CONTINUED
As we recently reported, the car that everyone has been calling the “1 Series GT” has now been fully revealed — as a 225i. Its full official name will be the 225i Active Tourer.
Also as predicted, the production version retains the Concept Active Tourer’s styling. The differences are the smaller kidney grilles, revised fascias and different lights. The shots of the interior reveal the same multi-layered styling seen in other late model BMWs.
The 2 Series Active Tourer will share the newest MINI’s engines and … CONTINUED
BIMMERPOST member Kyle Shim recently spotted an M4 Coupe prototype and set off a foot chase while trying to capture video for us. Very entertaining watch, not only because of the great sounds coming from the M4, but because of the intense chase!
Only 3 months remain until the production BMW X4 (F26) is introduced to the world at the 2014 Geneva auto show, making it 11 months between the concept first debuted at the Shanghai auto show and the production debut next March.
Prototypes testing continues and we have some more photos to show you. Although the production X4 has already been caught undisguised recenty (photos), below are pics which also show the scale of the X4 compared to the X3, with which it shares a platform. … CONTINUED
