The F10 M5 is powered by the lethal BMW bi-turbo V8 S63Tu motor outputting 560hp and 501 lb-ft torque. The specs signal that new M5 is good for some fast top speed runs, but how fast? This video demonstrates how quickly the F10 M5 achieves 196 MPH (315 kmh) – in just under an impressive minute.
This model is obviously top speed unlimited as the regular top speed of the F10 M5 is 250kmh (155mph) and 305kmh (189mph) with M Drivers Package.

BMW has a habit of underrating their cars’ official power and performance figures. This trend continues with the F10 M5 which is officially listed as achieving 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds, but has now been tested by Car and Driver as hitting 60mph in just 3.7 seconds! It also covers the quarter mile in 12.0 seconds at 122mph [from the C&D December 2011 issue].
Compare this to the 2009 E63 AMG, with which C&D achieved a 0-60mph of 4.0 seconds and quarter mile of 12.5 seconds at 115mph. Also compare to the 2012 CLS E63 AMG with performance pack with which C&D achieved 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds and a quarter-mile of 12.0 seconds

Albert Biermann, the Head of Product Development for BMW M Division, spoke recently in an interview about some hot F10 M5 topics.
First, Mr. Biermann finally puts to rest the speculation of a potential all-wheel-drive model for the F10 M5, which he says is a no-go for the F10 model, but leaving open the possibility for future M models.
He then discussed manual transmission for the F10 M5, confirming that it is coming to the US next year, but also hinting that manual transmission will eventually not be offered in future models.

It’s been several months since we last discussed the topic of an all wheel drive M5. The last update we posted was news from Autocar claiming that an AWD version of the M5 had been approved.
Speaking at the new M5′s press launch in Spain, the F10 M5′s project leader, Max Ahme, touched on this subject. Although he did not confirm the approval of a AWD M5 already, he did let on about its very real possibility.
As M cars’ power figures continue to climb generation after generation and proper traction becomes an issue, Ahme admits that AWD transmissions may be the solution to effectively put down all the power to the ground.
