Here are some photos from the Drift Record Attempt this past Saturday at the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg, SC.

The driver was Performance Center Instructor Johan Schwartz in a bone stock F10 M5. They only changed the engine oil. The old record was 41 miles or 251 laps on the skid pad. The new record is now 51 miles and it took 322 laps on the skid pad to get the record.

A bright yellow probably wouldn’t be our first choice of BMW Individual colors for an M5, but if you’re trying to get noticed in Qatar, where chrome wrapped cars are not out of place, this color choice makes more sense.

The exact color is Atacama Yellow, which was first introduced on the Limited Edition Design Pure Impulse Z4 for the UK.

Here’s the very first look at a production Imperial Blue Metallic F10 M5 (although it could also possibly be Azurite Black Individual which is also a dark blue/black color). Imperial Blue Metallic has a beautiful metallic blue hue to it when illuminated and is the darker of the F10 M5 colors.
