The new BMW X5: a fresh dimension in driving pleasure and efficiency.
Hot on the heels of its market launch, the addition of another three engines and four new model variants to the new BMW X5 line-up is set to extend the Sports Activity Vehicle’s efficiency lead over its rivals. The third-generation X5 will be available for the first time from December 2013 with a BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine and rear-wheel drive. We recently posted the official launch drive event pics of the BMW X5 from on-location in Vancouver, now have a look at our photos. Our X5 review is in the works.
These are the xDrive50i and xDrive35d models. The xDrive50i is seen in Black Sapphire Metallic and Mineral White, while the xDrie35d wears Space Gray paint. The Black Sapphire X5 is outfitted with the xLine package (more details on package).

BMW has debuted the BMW X5 eDrive Plug-in Hybrid Concept at the 2013 Frankfurt IAA show.
Although the X5 hybrid is being presented in concept form, prototypes have already been spied in testing, so expect a production model to be made.
Here’s the skinny on the X5 eDrive Concept:
• Four cylinder turbocharged engine (no horsepower figure provided)
• Paired with electric motor (provides 95 horsepowers)
• Up to 70 MPH (120km/h) on electric power alone
• Maximum range of 19 miles (30km) on electric power alone
• 0-60 MPH in 7.0 seconds
• Average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle of 3.8 litres per 100 kilometres (74.3 mpg imp).
• Can be charged from any domestic power socket

While on the X5 press launch drive, we had an opportunity to see the F15 X5 next to its predecessor – the E70 X5. Pictured here is an xLine X5 sDrive35i in Sparkling Brown, a M50d and a E70 X5 M Sport.
The X5 sDrive35i will be the first RWD X5. It features the 3.0L 6 cylinder turbo inline N55 engine, rated at 300hp / 300 lb-ft, 0-62 MPH in 6.2 sec. See full specs in the X5 Official Thread. This one wears the xLine trim, which includes:
Brushed stainless steel underbody protection panel
Air intake bars, kidney grille bars and rear trim strip in matte silver

We have just been through the international media launch event for the 2014 BMW X5 in beautiful Vancouver.
