BMW M4 Coupe takes on the RS5 Coupe in this Auto Bild performance comparison.

Some numbers:

The BMW does 0-100 kmh (62mph) in 4.4 secs (VS 4.2 for the RS5 with DSG). The 0-200 is in the advantage of the M4 in 14.1 secs (VS 14.8).

Weight: 1585kg or 3494 pounds VS 1803kg or (3975 pounds!!) for the RS5.

Lap time (Contidrom measuring 3.8km): 1:34,41 secs (similar to Porsche 911), 2 secs quicker than the Audi. I assume with the DCT version, the M4 would be even quicker… … CONTINUED

A great detailed review from a track veteran and new owner of an M4 coupe, from his recent experience at the Spa Francochamps Circuit and Nurburgring.

By karussell (Jim Chambers):

Finally uncompressed a little after a very busy 2 week trip across the pond. I wanted to write my impressions on the car while everything is still fresh in my mind.

Background. I’m not biased towards any brand of auto. I evaluate all types of cars and the badge on them is the least of my concerns. … CONTINUED

Hey all, just wanted to document my journey through Europe…first off I’d like to thank BMW for allowing such an amazing experience to be possible. I started out flying out of Washington Monday June 23rd, and landing in Munich the following Tuesday afternoon. My delivery wasn’t … CONTINUED

A technical deep dive and interview with BMW M engineer on the chassis underpinning the F80 M3 and F82 M4.

Mr. Barbisch, the BMW M3 that has now been replaced already had an excellent suspension …?

Bernd Barbisch: The previous BMW M3 already offered a very good suspension basis. It was a benchmark – the one to beat.

How?

Using intelligent lightweight construction we were able to take a considerable step forward in terms of driving dynamics.

The role model here was the BMW M3 CSL, where reduced weight … CONTINUED

As a followup to their F80 M3 Dyno and Weight, EAS had an opportunity to once again weigh another M3 for comparison. Racewerkz Engineering swung by their shop yesterday with their new Mineral White F80 M3 & Alpine White F82 M4. Naturally, the first order of business was to see how the M4 would do on the in-house Dynojet dyno.

Dyno Testing

Just like the Yas Marina Blue M3 dynoed last week, this Alpine White M4 further proved that BMW has seriously underrated the F8X’s horsepower … CONTINUED

Check out these F80 M3 dyno and weight figures from EAS.

Here’s what we’ve all been waiting for! This being the first F80 at EAS’s facility, forum member tightie decided to inspect this Yas Marina Blue M3 on a lift, weigh it on the scales and strap it to the dyno.

On the scales, this F80 M3 weighed in at 3590 lbs (pounds) with a nearly 50/50 weight distribution. The dyno numbers are what really impressed us, though. BMW claims this motor makes 425hp … CONTINUED

We recently traveled to Road America in Wisconsin to sample the new M4 and M3 for the North American press launch. As a previous owner of a Silverstone II 6 speed E90 M3, I was excited to drive the new Ms to find out how they compare!

Manual Purists Rejoice

The first piece of great news about the new M4 and M3 is that BMW offers the three pedal manual transmission as standard.

Some members have asked whether the new manual transmission retains the same rubbery shift … CONTINUED
