The most prevalent model brought out by BMW NA to the US Press Launch is the Sport Line model (in both 328i and 335i forms), which makes sense considering that half the event consists of a track day at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. As you’ve seen from our recent coverage, we were just in Monterey, California for the US press launch of the 2012 3 Series sedan (F30). We were given an opportunity to test all F30 lines (sport, luxury, modern), in both 328i and 335i, on the track at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, as well as the breathtaking roads of the Monterey area, including Big Sur. The US press drives for the 2012 BMW 3 series sedan (F30) has kicked off in beautiful Monterey, California and we had the pleasure of taking a 335i Sport Line with 6-speed manual transmission out for a spin today. This is the first time that the F30 335i and F30 manual transmission has been made available for testing by BMW.

The US Department of Energy has released its official F30 3 series MPG figures. The 2012 F30 328i (4-cylinder) 8-speed auto gets 24 city / 36 highway. The F30 335i (6-cylinder) 8-speed auto gets 23 city / 33 highway.
As for the manual transmission versions, the F30 328i achieves 23 city / 34 highway and the F30 335i is good for 20 city / 30 highway.
The worldwide F30 market launch comes in just under 3 weeks from now – on February 11. We’ve put together our Official Color Photo Threads for the F30 3 series in time for the market launch so it can hopefully help aid you in deciding on your F30 color when/if the time comes to order.
We’ve got the standard colors so far: Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic, Estoril Blue II, Glacier Silver, Havana, Imperial Blue, Liquid Blue, Melbourne Red, and Mineral Grey/Gray.
