BMW is set to add another variant of the Coupe and Convertible to the BMW 6 Series line-up with the arrival of the BMW 640d xDrive Coupe and Convertible in spring 2012. Intelligent all-wheel drive – making its debut in the BMW 6 Series – teams up with a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo technology to take driving pleasure to another new level. Fifth Gear’s Web TV takes a spin and assesses the new BMW 640d coupe (F13) M Sport model. They have some limited gripes and come to the conclusion that if you’re looking for a sporty and refined 2+2 GT with astonishing fuel economy, it should be on the top of your list.

Car and Driver reviews the 2012 650i coupe and comes away impressed with its dual ability to serve up brawn and beauty, or “the drag and Las Vegas strips” as they call it.

The power 400hp 4.4L V8 of the 650i (which it shares with the 550i) paired with an 8 speed automatic transmission was able to give Car and Driver drivers an impressive 0-60mph time of 4.5 seconds and the quarter mile in just 12.9 seconds @ 112mph!

We’ve brought you photos of 6 series Gran Coupe prototypes being put through the paces on the Nurburgring, and we’ve now caught it on video in live action. Despite its character as a grand touring car, BMW is still intent on delivering a sporty and well handling Gran Coupe. The continuing testing on the Nurburgring should go far in ensuring that.

Both the 640 and 650 gran coupe models are spotted in this video, with the 650 model wearing 6-series M sport wheels.

We recently reported the first sighting of the upcoming 6 Series Gran Coupe on the Nurburgring, and the M Sport version has now hit the ring for the first time.

The 6 Series Gran Coupe will feature M sport exterior styling from the 6 Series M Sport which adds an aggressive flare to the Gran Coupe’s very sleek shape. Current expectation is for the Gran Coupe to hit showrooms in 2012 as a 2013 Model Year vehicle. Engine range is expected to be identical to the 6-Series Coupe.

The 6 Series Gran Coupe will take on the Mercedes CLS and Audi A7 directly.
