Here are some of the clearest shots yet of the F34 3-series GT in testing, from some different perspectives than we’ve previously posted. We must say, the F34 GT looks much better in motion than at standstill.
Here are a couple new photos of the F34 3-series GT in testing runs on the streets. The 3-series GT will offer a simple hatch function rather than the twin trunk arrangement on the 5er GT. Spotted here is a 6 cylinder turbo version (335i or 335d).
While BMW continues development of the new F30 3-series set to debut in Spring 2012, German Auto Motor und Sport now reports about an interesting rumor: BMW is said to expand their lineup with a 4-door coupe based on the F30 platform. Internally called F36, BMW seems to consider 4-series for the name of this model. According to AMS, BMW is currently working on a first design model to showcase the car internally. Compared to the F30, the 4er is said to be 4cm or 1.5″ longer, 3cm or 1.2″ wider and 6cm or 2.3″ lower than the F30 sedan. Needless to say that this should make for a more sporty and menacing look. Car and Driver renders the F30 3-series sedan, one of the better ones that we have seen. We’ll know soon enough as official F30 pics and details should be released by late this year, and its its world public debut just a few months later at the 2012 Geneva autoshow in March of 2012. The F32 coupe will be unveiled a year later in 2013.

These are the first pictures of a early hybrid prototype for the next generation 3 series from BMW, as indicated by the “Rescue” stickers on its doors (which has been present on past hybrid BMW test vehicles).
The F30 3-series will be the first 3-series hybrid from BMW and will adopt much of the technology from the upcoming hybrid F10 5-series. The F30 hybrid will be released some time after the diesel and petrol F30 versions are released next year.
Besides serving as proof of an upcoming F30 hybrid, the photos provide us more views of the tail lights when lit.

It appears that one of the BMW Vision Efficientdynamics car’s more overt and distinguishing design features – the squared-off angel eye lights, will appear on the upcoming F30 3-series. This is the first we have seen this angel eyes design on a production BMW.
We first began seeing the squared-off angel eye lights on the VED concept car, a design concept which flowed down in less radical form to subsequent concept cars such as the Gran Coupe Concept and the 6-series Coupe Concept (all pictured below). Although the squared-off angel eyes unfortunately did not make production on the 6-series coupe, the F30 spy photo below shows clearly the new shape of the F30′s LED angel eyes.

SCOTT26 provides info on next generation 3-series, for which BMW is considering an “AFAST,” a mix between “MPV, SAV and Touring” and GT model. Also details on the debut dates of the F30 sedan, F32 coupe, and F33 convertible.
We bring you the most revealing photos yet of the upcoming 2012 3-series (F30)! Until now, the F30 has been fully cladded with little showing other than its general lines, shape, stance, and proportions. The strip tease has now commenced with part of the headlights now visible – showing beautiful LED angel eyes. The tail lights have now also been partially unveiled, showing a wrap around design featuring upsweeping light bars, LED indicators, and regular brake lights.
The production rear bumper has now also been installed (albeit with camouflage tape affixed). Previous spy photos showed a heavily clad rear bumper with little indication of its styling.
In the close-up photo of the front-end, the grille can also be seen hiding behind the black metal mesh (look closely!)

We reported earlier about the rumor that BMW was considering to build a fourth model at the US plant in Spartanburg, SC. Ian Robertson, member of the BMW board of management responsible for sales and marketing, now confirmed with FAZ that they were actually looking into this. While there’s no final decision, Robertson said they “would by no means put that off the table.” The US market continues to be the most important market for premium vehicles, so an US production would make sense for either the F10 5-series or the new F30 3-series coming later this year.
