MANUAL TRANSMISSION OR NOT?
As for today’s rumor out of Autoblog that there will be no manual transmission option for the M4, we submit contrary evidence in the form of: photos, videos, and VIN (options) information. The photos clearly show an early F80 M3 prototype with a 6 speed manual, the videos show what appears to be manual prototype M3 and M4 (judging by the shift and RPM patterns), and the VIN information shows prototypes with and without a DCT option.

Jon Sibal shares with BIMMERPOST his vision of what a BMW M4 DTM racer could look like. Starting with one of our images from the Pebble Beach reveal, he has transformed the already aggressive looking M4 Concept into a monster (the good kind).
If you didn’t catch the news earlier, BMW has already announced (but not yet revealed) an M4 DTM car for the 2014 DTM race series.
While the four BMW DTM teams are hard at work preparing for the seventh race of the season at the Nürburgring, visitors to the automobile weekend in Pebble Beach, over 9,100 kilometres from the “Green Hell”, were treated to an exciting glimpse of the future: it was there that BMW M GmbH launched the BMW Concept M4 Coupé, an innovative high-performance sports car based on the new BMW 4 Series. This model also provides the first taste of the BMW M4 DTM, with which BMW Motorsport will compete in the popular touring car series next year.

BMW claims its tenth one-two-three in the DTM – Spengler leads Wittmann and Glock home in Spielberg.
BMW Motorsport has added another chapter to its remarkable success story in the DTM: at the end of 47 laps, reigning champion Bruno Spengler (CA) crossed the finish line first in the BMW Bank M3 DTM to win the third race of the 2013 DTM in Spielberg (AT). Marco Wittmann (DE, Ice-Watch BMW M3 DTM) came home second, just 1.550 seconds later. He was followed by Timo Glock (DE, DEUTSCHE POST BMW M3 DTM), Wittmann’s BMW Team MTEK team-mate, who completed the first one-two-three for BMW since returning to the DTM in 2012. The eight BMW DTM M3 cars which will race for BMW Motorsports in the upcoming 2013 DTM season were recently unveiled at a special event at BMW Welt. Prior to that however, the team was busy test driving and making preparations for the upcoming season at Valencia and Jerez tracks in Spain.
The eight BMW drivers will next test their cars at Hockenheim (Germany) for the final pre-season test, ahead of the start of the season in four weeks time. Enjoy the sights and sounds below!
Exciting news for auto racing fans, including BMW Motorsports fans. GRAND-AM Road Racing and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), which administers the popular German DTM racing series, have entered into a cooperation agreement to bring a version of DTM to North America. The earliest the new series would begin would be 2015.
If this comes to fruition, not only would we see BMW DTM cars racing against Audi and Mercedes DTM in North America, but also again Japanese Super GT cars from Honda, Nissan and Toyota, and American manufacturers’ entries.
