Well, this looks like fun. We’ve reported about the six lucky guys who were invited to the F10 M5 Fly and Drive event earlier this month (one of them was 5POST member benz61). M-Power.com has just published a new video starring the new M5, Claudia Huertgen, a German race car driver, and some happy passengers. This video includes some nice drifts and thus obviously doesn’t reflect the fastest possible time for the car.
Enjoy the new M5 during a fun lap on the Nurburgring. Also remember that the new M5 will be available as regular Ring Taxi from 2012 on.
We’ve posted the best sound/video clip and photos yet of the F10 M5 safety car, showing off its M5 Akrapovic exhaust standing still and at launch. Videos and photos are courtesy of 5POST member Bmill, who was one of the lucky VIP in attendance at the BMW M Experience at the Indy MotoGP this past weekend.
Our coverage of M cars from this weekend’s BMW M Experience at the Indianapolis MotoGP continues with the first exhaust clips of the F10 M5 safety car showing off its badass Akropovic exhaust system, the production F10 M5, and some more 1M safety car pics.
The videos below were taken during the M5 safety car’s police escorted drive from the race track to downtown Indianapolis, where it was shown off to BMW M Experience VIPs and passerbys.
We’ve updated with even more photos of the F10 M5 safety car, official safety car of the MotoGP, which is making its debut this weekend to M VIP at the Indianapolis MotoGP race.
The new photos feature the M5 safety car posing on the race track, as well as some pics from the police escort it received from the track to downtown Indianapolis. It drew quite a crowd in front of the hotel as you can see!
The Indianapolis MotoGP race takes places this weekend and BMW is putting on a BMW M Experience for a lucky group of 50 M enthusiasts who have signed up for the event, which starts today and ends Sunday.
Besides the special access to the MotoGP race and paddocks, BMW will be providing these enthusiasts with hot laps in M safety cars driven by M school instructors, as well as a personal presentation of the F10 M5 sedan by M executives. They will also get the world’s first look at the F10 M5 safety car, the first pics of which we’ve posted below.
We’ll have full details on the F10 M5 safety car soon, but what know so far is that it features an Akropovic lightweight titanium race exhaust, … CONTINUED
The 2012 M5 (F10) will come in a fairly extensive choice of colors, including some beautiful individual exterior color options. One of the individual exterior color options is Brilliant White Metallic, which we’ve spotted hanging out at BMW M HQ in Garching, Germany.
Besides the individual brilliant white metallic exterior paint, the this M5 also has other individual options, such as the black painted mirrors and wheels. The red leather interior looks great set off against the white and black exterior color scheme.
As for not having blue brakes, it’s probably because it’s not a production M5, but a factory test car.
We’ve put together a color preview guide for the F10 M5, which can be seen at http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=546540
We’ve compiled the following gallery of new renders, past spy photos, and samples from other BMW models to give you an idea of what the color palette will look like on the 2012 F10 M5. This will hopefully help our future F10 M5 owner members decide on the color for their new M5.
As we posted about recently, the F10 M5 exterior color palette will include:
The exterior colors are as follows:
Black Sapphire Metallic
Monte Carlo Blue
BMW Individual exterior color options include:
A site member brings us the first photos of a completely revealed silverstone F10 M5. So far, the M5 has only been shown in production form in the Monte Carlo Blue color.
What most folks have not realized so far are the extensive modifications BMW has made to the F10 M5 engine. We point those out for you below, referencing BMW’s released info. Compared to the S85 engine of the E60 M5, BMW claims that “VALVETRONIC has also sharpened the responsiveness of this engine [S63Tü].
Here are the highlights of the new M5’s S63Tu engine and how it’s different from the S63 engine used for the X5 M and X6 M.
Two more innovations of the S63Tü:
- Innovative solenoid valve injectors in the new BMW M5 engine use multiple injections to achieve an extremely precise mixture preparation.
This is the biggest difference. As BMW puts it:
