EVO has posted a great video review of a preproduction F10 M5 by Chris Harris, filmed in the Swedish winter. If you’ll recall, EVO previously posted a bit of a teaser clip and article in which it was confirmed that the new M5 will have at least 555hp (that’s the output of the X5 M and X6 M) and that “there’s a seven-speed DCT dual clutch transmission with three different shift speeds and a fully automatic mode.
This video gives us a better sense of the visceral experience of the F10 M5, along with some additional reactions by Chris Harris. We’ve provided some cliffs notes and the video is inside.
Here is another video featuring the BMW Concept M5. Some weeks after the Unveil in Garching, BMW is currently showcasing the Concept M5 at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show, and M-Power.com has just released a video of the VIP preview event, featuring some M enthusiasts prediction and then reaction to the M5 unveil.
Here it is – the pre-production F10 M5 with as little camouflage as we have ever seen it with. With most of the front bumper exposed, it’s easy to see that it will basically mirror the front fascia of the concept F10 M5 revealed last month. These sleeker (than concept) side mirrors were not revealed on the concept F10 M5, but should debut on the production F10 M5 in Frankfurt later this year, at the production M5′s world reveal. Expect these wheels to be production intent.
Thes black F10 M5 prototype car shown below also has chrome exterior trim, which indicates to us that it may be an available option for future F10 M5 owners.

Many speculated that a AWD F10 M5 was possible in the works when BMW released the promo videos of the new M5 undergoing serious snow testing. It appears there may indeed possibly be an F10 M5 xDrive version sometime in the future. In an interview with Autocar, BMW M’s head of research and development, Albert Biermann, indicated that “There will be some all-wheel-drive surprises on M cars in the future,” apparently to satisfy demand from the US’s snow belt. This would represent the first time that the M5 come in a xDrive variant.
The only transmission details released so far for the concept F10 M5 is that it uses a Getrag 7-speed M DCT with M Drivelogic and has an Active M Differential.
