The 2011 F10 550i has now made its Canadian debut at the Vancouver autoshow. Shown in a space gray color, this marks the first time that the 550i has been shown in a color other than Sophisto Gray (Dark Graphite Metallic) as seen in the U.S. debut photos.

The 400+ horsepower twin-turbo V8 2011 550i (F10) (all details here) made its U.S. debut today at the 2010 NY Int’l Auto Show. It made its appearance in style by being driven into the spotlight during the press conference. Sophisto gray is a hard color to capture, but we think we’ve got some pretty good representations of it in our photos.
Here are exterior and interior photos of the space gray 2011 535i from the floor of the BMW display at the NY International Auto Show. This represents the U.S. premiere of the F10 535i. A 2011 550i is also present, which we will cover a bit later.

In the many F10 5-series reviews available thus far, one of the most praised aspects of the F10 has been its great ride quality. Richard Aucock, an automotive journalist, gives us some insight as to how BMW managed to improve on the 5-series ride quality from the E60. In his latest blog entry, he writes:
BMW Group Driving Dynamics Director Jos van As says it was owners of the old BMW 5 Series that led direction for the new one.
‘Feedback from owners of the old car was that handling impressed but the ride was too hard.’

Which? consumer test magazine had a chance to test both the F10 535i and 530d. While calling the 530d massively competent and refined, the testers still preferred the 535i, which encouraged a more enthusiastic driving experience. Either way, they felt the F10 stacks up impressively well on performance and refinement against current rivals, including the Mercedes E- class and aging Audi A6.

Seems that the tuners are easing their way into modifying the F10 5-series. Weve just seen AC Schnitzer put some of its wheels on the F10 and now its Hamanns turn. The full Hamann F10 tuning program is undoubtedly already underway, so stay tuned.
