We’ve updated the BMW F20 1-series gallery with nearly 50 photos. We’ll have the full tech details posted for you this weekend, but enjoy the preliminary info and full set of pics in the meantime!
Here they are, the very first photos of the F20 BMW 1-series! The full press release is expected this weekend, so stay tuned!
Seen here are “Sport Line” and “Urban Line” models. Compared to the outgoing 1-series hatchback, the F20 has grown by 8.5 centimeters to 4.32 meters in length. Wheelbase grows by 1 inch. It retains its 50:50 weight distribution.
Base engine in the BMW 116i with a newly developed 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine that makes 100 kW/136 hp. For the same displacement, the 118i gets 125 … CONTINUED
Even clearer updated photos of the F20 1-series M Sport front fascia. The different angles show us just how aggressive the M sport bumper actually is. Check out the new set inside….
We bring you the very first look at the upcoming F20 1-series M-sport front end on a 135i hatchback, and it’s undoubtedly the most aggressive M-sport front bumper we’ve ever seen from BMW, owing to the integration of air curtain bodywork and deeply inset air inlets to direct more airflow to the air curtains.
The rest of the M-sport package has not yet been affixed on this car, but expect the usual set of M-sport wheels, rear bumper, sideskirts, and of course interior M-sport bits.
Besides the current … CONTINUED
We’ve just seen the start of Nurburgring testing for the 1-series on 3/28, and now spyshots.nl brings us some more photos of the car, from a lower angle. Theres nothing substantively new in these photos, just additional views from different angles. Enjoy!
Update: This image has been confirmed as a render based on a real BMW image, so we are essentially seeing the real new look of the 1-series. Autobild leaks the new BMW 1er Sporthatch. This photo certainly looks like the real deal, especially comparing to the spyshots and everything we know about the car, I believe this to be real!!
We’ve caught the new upcoming 2012 1-Series hatch every which way imaginable, but now the car has finished its winter testing and entered Nurburgring testing. This is a critical point on the path for any BMW towards production. In fact, the new 5-door hatch is rumored to be revealed online this spring, 2011, with its first public showing at the Frankfurt autoshow this fall, so I’m sure things are in high gear with the 1-Series development team.
This particular vehicle is the 5-door hatchback variant, which is … CONTINUED
The release of the new (non-US market) 1-Series Hatchback is imminent– but that isn’t stopping BMW from doing the final testing of the partially camoflaged test bed. Gmotors.tv has snagged this video of the car testing in Munich.
The F20 1-series continues its testing rounds, spied for the first time in silver color and the new wheels style in these photos. Not much remains for the imagination, except perhaps the front headlights, which, like all previous F20 prototypes sports camouflage taped in a manner to trick the eyes into thinking they are larger than actuality. The yellow camouflage tape on the side mirrors conceal integrated side view mirror turn signals (close-ups here), the first of its kind on a BMW.
The all new 1-Series hatchback … CONTINUED
It seems the guys over at BimmerFile were invited to Munich to tour BMW AG and got to see and sit inside a few examples of the F20. They weren’t able to take photos, but did offer their insight into the car. They say:
“… the interior is getting a significant upgrade in quality of materials. The new look will be much closer to the X3, 5 and 7 series interior design and layout. In fact every F20 I saw the dash of had at least a … CONTINUED
These are the best close-up photos of the F20 1-series 5-door hatchback yet! Everything can be seen clearly – from the front bumper design, the more upright front fascia and grilles, to the camouflaged headlights purposely taped to trick the eyes into thinking they are larger, and the rear lights powered by LED light bars. A closeup of the side view mirrors confirms that the next gen 1-series will be the first BMWs with integrated side view mirror turn signals.
This particular model is a 2.0 diesel … CONTINUED
This is the first time the F20 has been captured on video in this more advanced camouflage stage. We’ve already posted many photos, but seeing the car in motion always gives a more lifelike perspective.
The F20 1-series hatchback is expected to make its world premiere at the Frankfurt Autoshow in September (see: http://www.bimmerpost.com/future-bmw/).
In usual BMW fashion, the Coupe body style should arrive roughly 1 Year later, and would be expected as a 2013 model. BMW M will also have its hands at the new 1-Series … CONTINUED
It appears that the next generation 1-series (F20) will be the first BMW to feature integrated side view mirror lights. We first suspected this when the F20′s latest stage of camouflage was first spied. Here was the circumstantial evidence:
* BMW test mules often have the orange tape/stripe on its side view mirrors, as camouflage/decoy. However, this decoy tape has always been removed once the heavy camouflage on the car’s lights are removed. With the F20, the heavy camouflage on the test mules’ … CONTINUED
BMW continues winter testing of the F20 1-series 5-door hatchback. This is the first time we see a black model with less camouflage, showing its sculpted hood and showing premium wheels for the first time. The hood provides us an advance preview of the styling language we should expect to see on the next generation 1-Series and 3-Series.
From the first look, this is the most sculpted hood ever seen on a 1-Series (not hard with only 1 Generation), or even a 3-Series for that matter, and … CONTINUED
BMW recently peeled back some of the heavy cladding on the next generation 1-series hatchback (F20), which has now been spotted again in various colors.
The next generation 1-series lineup (hatchback, coupe, cabrio, and other rumored variants) styling cues will fall in line with the rest of the newest BMW range. The car has a newly sculpted and more upright hood reminiscent of the F10 5-series and F25 X3 with sharp and hyper crisp body sculpting line running from the front fender through the door handles to … CONTINUED
The time has finally arrived, the BMW body obscuring cladding has come off the next generation 1-Series hatchback (F20). The car has grown in size to parallel the car’s growth in popularity and aims to improve upon the original 1-Series. It goes without saying that quality will be improved, but what these pictures confirm is what has so far been speculation regarding styling.
The next generation 1-series will fall in line with the rest of the BMW range. The car has a newly sculpted hood reminiscent of … CONTINUED
Autoweek has posted a spy video of the upcoming F20 1-series hatchback running hotlaps at the Nurburgring. The new 1-series three and five door models will debut next year at the 2011 Frankfurt IAA in September.
We bring you the first photos of the upcoming 2012 1-series hatch (F20) 135i revealing its grille and front bumper design (also an M-sport bumper). Judging by the front bumper design, dual split exhaust, uprated wheel/tire combo, and large brakes, this is likely the 135i model, powered by the N55 6-cylinder turbo motor. An examination of the front bumper reveals a similar design to the current 135i’s, which happens to also be the 1-series M-sport bumper, with its aggressive twin splitters.
According to our BMW longterm roadmap, … CONTINUED
