According to a new report from Autobild, BMW is considering reordering the nomenclature of their model lineup for consistency. If this happens, all sedan, wagons, and GT’s will get odd numbers. All coupes, convertibles and Gran Coupe’s get even numbers.
In other words, the successors of the E92 3-series coupe would become the 4-series coupe (F32), the E93 3-series convertible a 4-series convertible (F33). Info on the next generation M3 lineup comes courtesy of insider SCOTT26. Expected in the M3 lineup will again be the M3 coupe and cabrio, but the M3 sedan will supposedly be replaced by the M3 Gran coupe (a 4 door version of the F32 M3 coupe). Here are some new renders of the F30 3-series sedan, by German publication Auto Test. These are some of the more attractive renders we’ve seen and are clearly based off the F10 5-series, but with some attention to paid to previous F30 spy photos.
The rear 3/4 view is particular attractive. However, the renders are missing some new styling features revealed in the most recent F30 spy photos, such as the double character lines.

The 2012 F30 3-series sedan has finally dropped its heavy camouflage to reveal a handsome and evolutionary design from the current E90 3-series sedan!
As expected, the F30 3-series retains its sporty and squat design, with short overhangs and wheels pushed to the corners. However, the front end adopts BMWs current design language, with a sleeker sloping front fascia with widened kidney grilles. The rear lights remain classic L-shapes and the car retains the prominent character line throughout its doors.

Here is an updated F30 3-series generation debut and sales timeline, as speculated by SCOTT26. The F30 3-series sedan will be announced in November of this year, coinciding with the Olympics. It will then make its public debut at the 2012 Geneva autoshow in March of 2012 and be on sale shortly thereafter.

Here is a new rumor regarding the next generation F30/F32 M3′s powerplant – that a 3.3L V6 tri-turbo motor is a possibility! One turbo would power the motor generally, and the other two turbos would each be dedicated to 3-cylinders each.

While BMW continues development of the new F30 3-series set to debut in Spring 2012, German Auto Motor und Sport now reports about an interesting rumor: BMW is said to expand their lineup with a 4-door coupe based on the F30 platform. Internally called F36, BMW seems to consider 4-series for the name of this model. According to AMS, BMW is currently working on a first design model to showcase the car internally. Car and Driver renders the F30 3-series sedan, one of the better ones that we have seen. We’ll know soon enough as official F30 pics and details should be released by late this year, and its its world public debut just a few months later at the 2012 Geneva autoshow in March of 2012. The F32 coupe will be unveiled a year later in 2013.
