BMW today announced a portion of its lineup to be displayed at this year’s Los Angeles International Auto Show press days [public days go from November 30 - December 9]. From the exotic BMW Concept i8 Roadster to the versatile new BMW Concept K2 Powder Ride based on the popular new BMW X1 with graphics designed by Designworks USA, the company will showcase a comprehensive product arrangement which strikes the perfect balance of high performance, innovative efficiency, and outstanding design. A rumor comes from French magazine L’Automobile claiming that a BMW i4 Concept will be shown at the Los Angeles auto show in late November.
Details are scant so far, but resident BMW insider Scott26 previously alluded to both an i4 and i5 last year. The BMW i4 is said to be based off the i3 but will be a two seater i8-like sports car. If true, the i4 would surely utilize the same carbon fiber construction and hybrid drivetrain as the i3.

BMW AG has officially filed a registration for a new trademark and logo for their project-i vehicles such as the electric Megacity car and hybrid Vision EfficientDynamics sports car. The trademarks i1, i2, i3, i4, i5, i6, i7, i8, and i9 have also been registered.
New trademarks registered by BMW gives some insight into new model lineups that will eventually be added to BMW’s offerings. The new names include: i1, i2, i3, i4, i5, i6, i7, i8, i9, E1, E2, E3, E4, E5, E6, E7, E8, E9, M50d, Urbanic, Gran Coupe, Compactive, and Compactive Tourer.
The “i” lineup of cars could very well be used to designate the sub-compact electric megacity vehicle we’ve been hearing about for a while. The “E” lineup of cars could possibly be used to designate electric versions of current BMW models. “M50d” is speculated to refer to a tri-turbo diesel. “Urbanic” could be a new trim level associated with the megacity vehicles.
