Chris Harris takes a 24 hour trip to Los Angeles to drive the new BMW i8. He hated the flight, but the i8 left a positive impression on the team. Capable of 23 miles all electric before the 3-cylinder turbocharged motor kicks in to recharge the batteries. Can the BMW i8 drift? Seems we’ll be seeing that answered soon by a Chris Harris review on Road & Track, but for now here are some real life performance figures from their instrumented test of the i8.
The i8 was able to cover 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds, quarter mile in 12.3 seconds @ 114.4 MPH.
It hit 0.91g on the skidpad and braked from 60-0 in 119 feet.
Reviews of the production BMW i8 are now rolling in… check out the verdicts inside.
