RIP F10 M5 Ring Taxi. The circumstances behind the crash are not yet known, but the good news is that nobody was seriously hurt in this crash.
On this episode of Head 2 Head Jonny Lieberman is joined by Mike Shaffer and two extremely potent hyper sedans, the 2014 BMW M5 Competition and the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S Model. Between the two of them, these two mighty Germans produce 1152horsepower and 1092 pound-feet of torque. On paper. After a day of horsing around/testing Shaffer and Lieberman grow suspicious of each twin-turbo V-8′s actual output. So, they take them to the dyno gurus at K&N engineering to learn what’s what. The results very well may shock and amaze you. However, the boys come to the conclusion that numbers are only exactly that: only numbers, and numbers only matter so much. One true test of a super sedan is how it handles … CONTINUED
Now that the first official specs of the F80 M3 and F82 M4 are known and we’ve had plenty of looks at the M4 Concept as well as M3/M4 spy pics and video, we thought it’d be interesting to tally a count of how many BIMMERPOST members already have pre-orders in for the 2014 M3 or M4.
For those who have pre-ordered, you can check multiple boxes above and indicate which model you’ve pre-ordered.
The two most potent F30-based models, the F80 M3 and the Alpina B3 F30, pose together at the BMW M test center at the Nurburgring.
The photos give us a look at how aggressive the F80 M3′s styling (especially its big fenders) is compared to the more subtlely modified Alpina.
The new M3 will make its debut at the 2014 Detroit auto show in mid-January.

The E9x M3 generation is about to come to an official end, as BMWNA confirms that the E93 M3 Convertible (the only E9x M3 still being made) ends production this month.
Per BMWNA announcement:
M3 Coupe and Convertible
There won’t be a 2014 M3 Coupe and Convertible in the US market, production of the M3 Coupe ended in June 2013 while the M3 Convertible will be produced until October 2013.
The following are the 2014 6 Series and M6 changes, per BMWNA:
M6 Gran Coupe
Active Protection has been added to all M6 models to initiate protective measures for occupants if an accident situation is imminent: front seatbelts are pulled tight, windows are closed, and brakes are automatically applied after crash. Includes Attention Assistant, whereby the system’s electronics analyze driving behavior on the basis of various signals such as steering angle, road speed and other engine parameters. If the system increasingly detects signs of fatigue starting to build up, it issues a notification via the central Control Display to encourage the driver to take a break.
We’re pleased to announce the introduction of a new Competition Package (ZCP) available for $6,000. Further enhancing vehicle dynamics … CONTINUED
Epic European Delivery report journal by BIMMERPOST member B-1 Pilot:
Just four days ago, we returned from an Epic European Delivery trip of my 2014 M5. In 10 days of travelling we visited 8 countries, drove 1800 miles, hit 162MPH, drove three laps around the Nürburgring, took 1200 pictures, shot 15 hours of video, and consumed copious amounts of good German beer and wine.
For my trip, I blended previous experiences, new knowledge learned here, and about 6 months of research to come up with our itinerary. I happily pay if forward and share the experience with you here, so that you might see something that piques your interest for a future European Delivery.
This week on Ignition, Carlos Lago tests the BMW M5… again! This time around it has something called the Competition Package, which adds a host of small adjustments and improvements in an effort to improve the car’s performance and the satisfaction it gives to its driver. Is more power and a recalibration of the suspension and steering enough to make this incredible sedan behave? We find out on the test track at Hyundai’s Proving Grounds.
