How do we know this is the M2?
• We’ve recently confirmed that the M2 is coming at the end of 2015 – early 2016 so the timing of this prototype makes sense.
• Flared fenders and wider track.
• M3/M4 (19″ Style 437M) wheels fitted for testing purposes.
• Same blue steel brakes as M3/M4, with positioning the same as the M3/M4 (different than the M235i and M235i Racing).

We’ve recently learned from multiple inside sources (who have been accurate in the past) that the BMW M2 is a go!
The M2 start of production is currently scheduled for late Fall 2015, which places the first deliveries at the very end of 2015 or early 2016.
Confirming what we reported earlier, we’ve been told that the M2 will be powered by the N55 turbo inline 6 engine (N55B30T0), producing around 370-380 PS (365-375 HP).

Autoexpress reports that a BMW insider they spoke to at the M235i launch in Las Vegas last week let on that the BMW M2 “makes a lot of sense.” In addition, a “source” confirmed that a road-going version of the M235i Racing (a track-only customer race car) was considered for production, but this plan was nixed so as not to “step on the toes of something else higher up the range.” The source added that this refers to a new M car.
