The upcoming M235i Coupe will beat the 1M Coupe around the Nurburgring, so says Klaus Froehlich, Senior Vice President Brand and Product Strategies at BMW. In speaking to Autoexpress, he states that:

“I have just signed off the M235i’s M Sport performance kit, which will include a proper limited slip differential – LSD. I’m just working out whether to make this an option on all models.

The M235i is as close a spiritual successor to the 2002ti that we’ve had. My initial benchmark was that it will be faster than the BMW 1M Coupe around the Nurburgring, which it is.

The 4 Series body is stiffer than the 3 Series’, and the 2 Series is the same over the 1 Series. The handling of the 1M was too … CONTINUED

The F80 M3 has been spotted with a camouflaged roof. How is this significant? Well, its brother, the F82 M4 Coupe has often been spotted with a camouflaged roof (as well as an optional top with moonroof), which typically indicates the presence of a carbon fiber roof, but the F80 M3 Sedan has never been seen with a camouflaged top, until now.

This F80 M3 prototype was spotted by a BIMMERPOST member while it undergoes hot weather testing in Las Vegas (where it recently hit 117F degrees) and is accompanied by some F15 X5 M prototypes. Like the M4, this likely indicates a carbon fiber roof for the upcoming M3 – the first time any M3 Sedan will feature such a lightweight roof (the E92 M3 … CONTINUED

The 2014 5 Series (LCI refresh) receives both cosmetic and mechanical updates [full details] and many of you have wondered what effects the updates to the suspension and steering will have.

Edmunds shares their first drive review of the 2014 5 Series and gives their take on this:

The 5′s chassis has also seen a light rethink in the form of retuned dampers for improved comfort, quietness and reduced roll, besides some fresh mapping of the electric power steering to sharpen its precision.

These dynamic upgrades are subtly apparent on the admittedly shelf-smooth Bavarian roads we sampled it on. The ride is smoother, the cabin is a little quieter and body sway, never a big issue in a 5 Series, is tightly controlled. The natural balance that comes … CONTINUED

An interactive 3D modeler of the M235i Coupe is now available at Humster3D. This digitally modeled version is based off the revealing spy photos of the M235i we posted last month.

Generally speaking, it does a decent job at previewing the M235i, although it does have to make some predictions as to the rear view and tail lights, which remain partially covered in the spy photos. Its surfacing is also too flat in some areas, as the actual M235i’s hood and front fascia have more shape and curves.

If you want to play with the interactive modeler, visit: http://humster3d.com/360-view/?id=54832
