The first M Sport 4 Series Gran Coupe has been spotted and there’s no surprises here as its M Sport aero parts are the same as those of the 4 Series Coupe.
Now that much tech specs for the F80 M3 / F82 M4 have been revealed, do you perceive the M3 any differently when seeing it in action?
We can finally be sure that what we are seeing and hearing is an M3 powered by its 3.0L bi-turbo inline 6 S55 engine outputting approximately 430 hp, far beyond 369 lb-ft, and to a redline just north of 7500 RPM.
Here is the F80 M3 prototype continuing some final testing on the Nurburgring ahead of its January debut at the Detroit auto show. Order banks should open in January-February 2014, followed by production in the Spring and deliveries by late Spring – early Summer.
With the F15 X5 ready to make their debuts at dealerships across the globe, the M version resumes testing at the Nurburgring.
Testing on the F15 X5 M began last year [first sighting], but current mules have now dropped much camouflage. What’s revealed are the expected signature M components – huge front air intakes, aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X5 model). We also get a better look at the quad exhaust pipes which, unlike the current X5 M, feature a new angled design (like we’ve seen on the F82 M4).

We’ve shown you many looks at the exterior of the X4 prototypes, but no views of the X4 interior (not even on the concept X4), until now.
The X4′s interior design is predictably similar to the X3, with which it shares a platform (see comparison photo). The new iDrive touch control knob can be seen. As with the X3, the X4 will be produced in Spartanburg. Expect the X4 to hit the market in the second half of 2014 – early 2015.

Now that the 4 Series Coupe has been revealed and the Convertible nears its debut, the next model in the lineup – the 4 Series Gran Coupe (F36), has re-emerged in testing, after a nearly 6 month hiatus since our last spotting. It has re-emerged with Eric Bana doing the testing and with less camouflage than ever – shedding the heavy camouflage from its front and rear (that’s not really Eric Bana).
What’s revealed is what was expected – a Gran Coupe styled 4 Series which effectively shares the same exterior styling as the Coupe, but with an elongated roofline and an extra pair of doors. The interior will also be shared with the other 4 … CONTINUED
The long rumored 2 Series Gran Coupe has yet to be spotted in testing, but we’d be highly surprised if BMW did not go after the CLA and A3 sedan with its own small sports sedan. The company is seemingly entering all niches in which its German competitors have offerings, even niches with much smaller sales potential than the small sedan space, so we expect to see a 2 Series “Gran Coupe” sedan after the Coupe and Convertible 2 Series are released. Artist Theophilus Chin has rendered what he thinks the 2 Series Gran Coupe may resemble, drawing heavily upon the nearly fully uncovered M235i Coupe we showed you four months ago.

The F82 M4 coupe and F83 M4 convertible continue testing and we continue sharing pics with you.
Once it’s fully revealed, we will see an M4 convertible which shares the M4 coupe’s styling (and mechanicals), save for the roofline and trunkline. To give you an idea for how the M4 convertible will look once all the camo comes off, check out our production M4 renders below.
The one clear difference is that the M4 convertible features a different roof — in the form of a non-carbon fiber folding hardtop. It will operate and fold in the same manner we’re used to seeing on the E93 M3 convertible.
