BMW has been busy trademarking. Below is a list of some recent BMW trademark filings for future potential models. Remember, just because a manufacturer registers a trademark does not mean that the model will necessarily come to fruition. But, it makes for some fun speculation and certainly paints a rough map of what potential future models we may see out of Munich.

The BMW Group is expanding capacity at its U.S. plant in Spartanburg. “We plan to invest over the next three years nearly USD 900 million in the Spartanburg plant by 2014. This will create 300 new jobs by the end of this year. This will allow us to produce 350,000 units in Spartanburg in the mid term,” says Frank-Peter Arndt, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Production, in Spartanburg on Thursday. The BMW Group already invested USD 750 million in the expansion of the plant for production of the new BMW X3 between 2008 and 2010.

Although the BMW X4 has not yet been spotted in any public testing, it’s been confirmed by BMW. AutoBild utilizes some of BMW’s latest styling elements (including the exposed side grilles of the F30 3 series sedan), to produce renders of what they think the upcoming BMW X4 SAV may resemble, as well as the future iterations of the X1 and X5. They even threw in a render of a fantasy X2.

Is the X-coupe concept from 2001 being revived and being studied for possible production? Yes, according to Scott26. With the Porsche Cajun and Land Rover Evoque small SAVs hitting (or scheduled to hit) the market, BMW is said to be considering an X-coupe type car with which to compete with. Info on the next generation M3 lineup comes courtesy of insider SCOTT26. Expected in the M3 lineup will again be the M3 coupe and cabrio, but the M3 sedan will supposedly be replaced by the M3 Gran coupe (a 4 door version of the F32 M3 coupe). Also for the first time there will be an M3 touring wagon. Finally, the X3M and an X4M (based on a future X4 SAV model) are speculated. Full details inside.
The “0 Prototype” featured and teased prominently in the recent Plan 0 video (a look into BMW’s secret prototyping process) is likely to be the future BMW X4 SAV, which will take on the coupe SAV look of a baby X6, albeit in smaller form. Evidence comes via Scott26′s words, the presence of personnel from the Spartanburg plant (where X models are produced), and close resemblance to speculative X4 renders.
