We’ve spotted a black F10 M5 prototype conducting some final testing. It wears a minimal amount of camouflage and the least amount of cover we’ll see prior to seeing the production version. What you see is essentially the production version, including the mirrors and sideskirts which were not seen on the concept M5 model.
If you’re tired of seeing spy photos of preproduction M5s, you won’t have to wait much longer to see the production version. It will be revealed in just over two weeks time at the M Festival at the Nurburgring — on the night of Thursday, June 23rd (German time). Stay tuned!
The F10 M5 production model will be debuting at next month’s BMW M Festival at the Nurburgring (from June 23-26) and BMW continues to release teasers about this debut. Seen below is the latest video teaser from BMW, which leaves little doubt that the production F10 M5 will be revealed live for the first time at the M Festival. Not much new in this video, but we do get a look on video for the first time, the beautiful Monte Carlo Blue M5.
Also expected to make its world debut at the event will be the lightweight M3 EVO sedan.

Here are the very first spyshots allowing a clear look at the F10 M5′s anticipated ceramic composite brakes. Yes, you’ve read this correctly – BMW finally joins the pack and offers ceramic brake discs starting with the F10 M5. We’ve added side-to-side shots with the brakes as seen on the M5 Concept to point out the differences, including the jagged surface of ceramic and a different drilling with smaller holes. This will be a popular yet expensive option.
With the new M5 just around the corner, alot of members are probably thinking about the details such as what options to get, and most importantly, what color! 5Post member, Weird Side Effect, proposes the question, what color should he get his M5 in?
Here are some new photos of an Alpine White FEP prototype. Looks to the M5 concept for a good idea of what the camouflaged parts will look like on the production M5, although the mirrors and sideskirts will be the versions seen on the test prototypes.
Expected to debut at the M Festival at the Nurburgring in just over a month, the F10 M5 will feature the S63 Twin Turbo V8, rumored to produce more power and torque than the equivalent X5/X6M unit while producing 25% less emmisions than the outgoing V10 powered E60 M5. Final technical/performance specs have not yet been revealed, but should come at its reveal next month.

Southern California appears to be a hotbed for FEP stage F10 M5 prototype testing, as multiple test cars are spotted each week. Another black F10 M5 prototype was just spotted last week (video/photos inside). The chase car was no slouch – an E39 M5, and it still had problems keeping up in the beginning of the video.
Although it remains clad in camouflage, we already know what the production F10 M5 will essentially look like by referencing the F10 M5 Concept, albeit with the mirrors and sideskirts seen here (which were not on the concept M5). Here is another video from a recent sighting on the LA freeways of the F10 M5 in Silverstone color. Even with the camouflage tape, the presence that the F10 M5 has on the road is undeniable.
Now that the BMW Concept M5 has been shown to the public, BMW has basicly unwrapped their test fleet of M5s– because we all know the shape. The benefit of that for us is that we get a preview of the M5 in a variety of colors, and so far we’ve gotten to see the car in Silver and White. Other popular colors such as Monte Carlo Blue have been shown off in the past, but unfortunatly with the body cladding still on the car.

M-Power.com has just published a new video of the F10 M5 at BMW’s own racetrack in Miramas, France. BMW gives us another glimpse at the testing procedures they perform, including high speed (> 300 km/h or 190mph), launch control vs. smoky burnout, wet handling course and general performance testing. They have obviously also reworked the launch control function of the M DCT and gives us a neat demonstration. The BMW engineers are optimizing the new BMW M5 even for extreme conditions.
