One of the most oft asked question regarding the upcoming F10 M5 production car is whether it will come with a manual transmission option. BMW has already announced that the F10 M5 will have a 7-speed DCT transmission, but has been mum on confirming whether or not a 6-speed manual would be made available.
With these photos, it now appears that indeed there will likely be a manual transmission option. Manual purists rejoice! It’s certainly odd seeing a stick shift next to an electronic e-brake, but we’ll take manual option regardless. A manual transmission would be mated to the F10 M5′s turbo 4.4L V8 with northwards of potentially more than 560hp.

The F10 M5 production model will be debuting at next month’s BMW M Festival at the Nurburgring (from June 23-26) and BMW continues to release teasers about this debut. Seen below is the latest video teaser from BMW, which leaves little doubt that the production F10 M5 will be revealed live for the first time at the M Festival. Not much new in this video, but we do get a look on video for the first time, the beautiful Monte Carlo Blue M5.
Also expected to make its world debut at the event will be the lightweight M3 EVO sedan.

Here are the very first spyshots allowing a clear look at the F10 M5′s anticipated ceramic composite brakes. Yes, you’ve read this correctly – BMW finally joins the pack and offers ceramic brake discs starting with the F10 M5. We’ve added side-to-side shots with the brakes as seen on the M5 Concept to point out the differences, including the jagged surface of ceramic and a different drilling with smaller holes. This will be a popular yet expensive option.

The guys over at M5Board got their hands on the first picture of the upcoming F10 M5 Engine Bay! This motor is at the heart of all the M5 speculation at the moment. What is known is that this motor is based on the Twin Turbo V8 unit currently motivating the X5 and X6 M. However, it has undergone modification for use in the M5 and BMW is clutching onto the exact power and torque figures, keeping us all in suspense.
The S63 Twin Turbo V8 is rumored to producing more power and torque then the equivalent X5/X6M unit while produce 25% less emmisions then the outgoing V10 powered E60 M5.

M-Power.com has just published a new video of the F10 M5 at BMW’s own racetrack in Miramas, France. BMW gives us another glimpse at the testing procedures they perform, including high speed (> 300 km/h or 190mph), launch control vs. smoky burnout, wet handling course and general performance testing. They have obviously also reworked the launch control function of the M DCT and gives us a neat demonstration. The BMW engineers are optimizing the new BMW M5 even for extreme conditions. We’ve reported before about the M Festival taking place at the Nürburgring from June 23rd through June 26th 2011. It’s a four day event comprising of many highlights like the M Night on Thursday evening, an M parade on the Ring on Friday and of course the Nürburgring 24h race on Saturday and Sunday.
What caught our attention in a recent interview about the M Festival is an announcement that they “will be taking the opportunity to exclusively present two brand-new M automobiles for the very first time” at the M Night. We already know, as previously announced, that one of the M cars will be the lightweight M3 sedan which is supposed to be called M3 EVO. The only other M car we could speculate as … CONTINUED
EVO has posted a great video review of a preproduction F10 M5 by Chris Harris, filmed in the Swedish winter. If you’ll recall, EVO previously posted a bit of a teaser clip and article in which it was confirmed that the new M5 will have at least 555hp (that’s the output of the X5 M and X6 M) and that “there’s a seven-speed DCT dual clutch transmission with three different shift speeds and a fully automatic mode.
