BIMMERPOST member and owner of the first M6 Competition Package in the UK shares with us his review of his brand new F13 M6 Coupe with Competition Package, comparing it against his previous M6 Coupe, which was an early launch-spec car.

This review gives particular good insight into just how much/little difference the M6 Competition Package gives. Here’s his review:

Contrary to the majority of car nuts (in the UK anyway!), I do like my M6′s, having also owned a previous E63 shape a few years ago – they just seem to suit what I like in a car very well…..breathtaking thrust mixed with impeccable build quality and refinement without being as barge-like as the even bigger coupe’s like the Bentley GT or Mercedes CL.

Pro driver Randy Pobst hot laps the 2013 BMW M6 around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca as part of Motor Trend’s 2013 Best Driver’s Car review.

The 2013 BMW M6 is one of 12 contenders competing for the title of 2013 Best Driver’s Car. The other contenders include: Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Wagon, Audi R8 V10, GT-R, Porsche Cayman S, 911 4S, SLS Black Series, the SRT Viper, the Focus ST, the Vanquish, Bentley Continental GT Speed and the Jaguar F-Type.

With its 560 HP / 501 lb-ft torque, the M6 turns in a lap time of 1:40.52 around Laguna Seca.

While we were in Portugal for the 4 Series Coupe launch, we also had a first look and drive of the M5 and M6 with Competition Package [full details]. We’ll be sharing some first drive thoughts soon, but for now, have a look and listen at the cars in action. None of the cars in the photos are equipped with the 20″ Competition Package wheels, but you can see them in action in the videos below.

For those not familiar with the M5/M6 Competition Package, it features the following:

Power increase by 11kW (15HP) to 423kW (575 HP)
Stiffer stabilizer (anti-roll) bars
Stiffer and lower suspension (shocks and springs) (10mm lower than standard M5).

We promised recently to try to get answers for some commonly asked questions our members have about the M5 and M6 Competition Package which begins production this month, and here they are below. First, a primer on the package:

2014 Competition Package details:

Power increase by 11kW (15HP) to 423kW (575 HP)
Stiffer stabilizer (anti-roll) bars
Stiffer and lower suspension (shocks and springs) (10mm lower than standard M5).
Stiffer front axle bushings
Active M Differential with a unique tune for the competition package for improved traction

Road & Track has a long term M6 Gran Coupe with manual transmission and they’ve put it to some real world testing, achieving some very impressive figures:

0-60 in 3.9 seconds.
0-100 in 8.6 seconds.
Quarter-mile in 12.1 seconds @ 120 mph.
