In 2013, the new BMW X5 celebrated its market launch. Now in 2014, there is another reason for the new SUV giant to celebrate, because the tuning experts at AC Schnitzer have taken it into their workshop to give the third generation X5 a facelift. The result is a vehicle which can scarcely be equalled in terms of power, sporting performance and superiority – and the AC Schnitzer version will be presented for the first time at the 84th Motor Show in Geneva from 6th to 16th March.

At the 2014 Chicago Auto Show,BMW of North America today announced that just four months after the new third-generation BMW X5 arrived in US showrooms, it will offer a full complement of BMW M Performance Parts. BMW M Performance Parts are accessories now available for a wide variety of current models that enable the enthusiast to tailor their BMW to their individual tastes with a sporty, track-inspired character.
As with M Performance Parts already available, carbon fiber plays a prominent role with the exterior enhancements for the new X5, including mirror caps, front splitter, rear diffuser and rear aero flaps. BMW has been advertising the 2014 F15 X5 with the tagline “The Boss is Back” (seen at the end of the second ad below) and the latest commercial coming out of Japan humorously shows just how boss the new X5 is — stopping a tough biker gang and a train dead in their tracks. The boss X5 is of course given the right of way.

Testing on the second generation BMW X5 M continues while the prototypes shed some camouflage. This is the first red F85 X5 M we’ve seen and as with earlier prototypes, it wears the signature M components – huge front air intakes, more aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X5 model). We also have a better look at the quad exhaust pipes which, unlike the current X5 M, feature a new angled design (same as the upcoming M3 and M4).
