The F20 1-series 5-door hatchback continues its winter cold weather testing in Arjeplog, a town in Northern Sweden. The new 5-door hatch 1-series is expected debut sometime next year.
The psychadelic equiped camod next generation BMW 1-Series (chassis code F20) was seen in early December starting out cold weather testing and now a month later continues heavy testing.
Not much is known about the next generation 1-series, but what is known is that BMW sees this car as a core vehicle to its lineup in the future. Potentially, this car would be as important to them as the 3-series and so similar coupe and sedan variants are on the table. Even a stretched wagon varient has been rumored at one point. The car continues to be heavily camod but the car is now solidly in the BMW development cycle. As you may remember, the car was previously seen as a mule riding on the current 1-series body, then a camod prototype was seen driving around the streets on Munich. With more development under the cars belt, it has now been moved for cold climate testing.

We bring you the first photos of what appears to be a 6 cylinder twin turbo F20 1-series 5-door hatchback in testing. Until now, the only F20 1-series prototypes we have seen have featured a single exhaust outlet. This newly spotted F20 features split dual exhaust outlets, which, judging by BMWs current models, usually signifies the presence of the 3 liter twin-turbo engine under the hood. The wheels featured on this F20 test mule have also not been spotted before and may very well be the standard (or optional) wheels we will see on the next 135i hatchback.
The guys at spyshots.nl have done it again and bring us some nice video footage of the 1er in action. Seeing the car driving around the streets of Germany gives some good insight into the general proportions of this car, and it certainly looks wider and more low slung and compared to the current car. This is still the 5 door version of the car and we have yet to see what a coupe version would look like.

While the car still remains in the engineering prototype phase, plans for the car have already been laid out and seem to be the most ambitious for any BMW car ever.
According to BMW insider scott26, plans are laid down for a host of variants that include not only the traditional 3-door/5-door hatchbacks, coupes and convertables but also:
Supersport edition — Basicly a BMW 1-series M variant, designed by them but without the M badge.
Touring model PAS type GT model (along the lines of the 5 series GT)
Sports Activity Coupe (X2 — along the lines of the X6)
