German publication AMS decided to pit two popular diesel SUVs against each other — the BMW X3 xDrive 30d against Audi Q5 3.0 TDI Quattro or 258hp/413 lb-ft inline-6 vs 240hp/369lb-ft V6.

The outcome is that both cars are similar in many ways, but the BMW X3 manages to get the edge and wins this comparison. Details inside.

Audi’s all new Q3 has just been released, which was not unexpected considering Audi has a vehicle in every segment that BMW has one.

The new Q3 is certainly aesthetically pleasing, but when I first saw it, I didn’t have a strong reaction one way or the other. I think that is a function of the fact that like most Audis today, it is fairly similar to every other Audi product, especially the Q5. So while it’s not ugly, it is a bit booring to me.

Regardless, we bring you this photo comparison between the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1, a car which has been on the market for 2-3 years now. You be the judge! (Try voting in our poll above)

Edmunds’ InsideLine has published their full review of the new 2011 X3 xDrive35i, equipped with the N55 3.0L turbocharged engine that is becoming ubiquitous across the BMW lineup.

InsideLine starts of their article with these words:
“Stop, wait, shudder, silent, check.
Stop, wait, shudder, silent, check.
Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.”

Certainly scary to read in a NEW car review. When I saw that I thought I was in for one piss poor review. It turns out what they cleverly highlighted was a feature in the new X3 that will be missing from US spec cars (but maybee shouldn’t be), namely start-stop technology.

Regardless, InsideLine didn’t seem as happy with the X3, as they usually love BMWs. Reading the article, I wonder if their distasteful Beverly Hills surroundings had anything to … CONTINUED

Here are some informative size comparison slides from the official BMW X3 presentation. The first slide shows the new F23 X3 size compared to the outgoing E83 X3 and the second slide compares the sizes of the X3 to the X1 and X5. The all new X3 is not quite as much larger than the outgoing X3 as some have made it to be.

World premiere in Paris: the new BMW X3.

The new BMW X3 steps up for its world debut at the Paris Motor Show as the successor to a genuine top seller. Compared with its successful predecessor, the new Sports Activity Vehicle delivers that bit more agility as well as driving comfort. A similarly palpable increase in interior space and stowage capacity benefits rear-seat passengers in particular, but is also welcome in the luggage compartment. With its load capacity now expandable from 550 to 1,600 litres (19.4 to 56.5 cu. ft.) and a rear seat bench that folds down at a ratio of

40 : 20 : 40, the new BMW X3 delivers more room and versatility than any competitor in its class.
