Taking a page out of their multi-lines strategy for the F20 1-series hatchback (which has the Sport and Urban Lines), the F30 and F32 3 series will also be available in multiple “lines” options.
The 3 lines expected for the next gen 3 series sedan (and perhaps “4 series coupe” if the name change comes to fruition) will be a Sport Line, Modern Line, and Luxury Line (actual final names may differ, we’ve also heard Sport Line, Urban Line and Deluxe Line as the possible names).
These optional lines will feature differentiated preset looks via unique trimmings and equipment. Besides the usual options and packages BMWs can be configured with, this allows BMW to offer even more individuality and uniqueness between the same models. These lines should not … CONTINUED
The F30 fun continues. Yesterday we brought you the first shots of the new 3-series sedan as it was caught in Spain during a photoshoot.
Today, we’re excited to share even better shots of this Sparkling Bronze F30 3-series. These hi-res versions show the front fascia in even more details, in particular the F30′s unique headlight shape. The inside corner of the headlights appear to take on a very distinctive shape by angling in very sharply – a completely new design feature for BMW. What results is that the side of the kidney grilles appear to be exposed. We can’t wait to see how this looks from ground level!
At the same time, there’s also another two F30 models joining the scene. … CONTINUED
What a weekend! First spyshots of the new M3, then had the first leak of the Performance Concept 1-series and now this:
An eagle eyed tipster managed to take the first (albeit blurry) shots of the new BMW 3-series sedan (F30). From what can be seen in those photos it will be a very handsome and evolutionary design. The front appears sporty yet elegant and — to the relief of many — the headlights are sleeker and smaller compared to the F20 1-series. The rear clearly shows a family resemblance to the F10 5-series, yet the rearlights are somewhat different at the outer edges to make for a unique look.
As with the F20, the side turn indicators are now integrated into the mirros. There appears to … CONTINUED
As the E90 3-series’ production comes to an end this October, attention has already been shifting to the next generation F30 3-series sedan. Here, BMW continues testing of the next generation 3-series (F30) sedan. It seems that the amount of camouflage has remained at this level for a while now, but new colors continue to appear on the FEP prototypes.
The F30 3 series spied here looks to be in Deep Sea Blue Metallic or the new Midnight Blue color introduced on the F20 1-series hatchback. This new wheel design has been spotted multiple times on F30 prototypes, so we expect it to be the premium 19″ wheel option.
F30 begins production in November 2011. The 2012 Model Year will run until June 2012, upon which point it … CONTINUED
The recently-spied-for-first-time F3x 3-series Li Long wheelbase model continues its testing. This extended length next gen 3-series will be manufactured in China for sale only in China (like all new F30s for the Chinese market) and provides for more spacious backseat area with more legroom. The BMW 3-series Li will debut at the Beijing Autoshow in April 2012.
The platform will form the basis of the BMW 3-series Gran Turismo which debuts in 2013.
The F30 3-series is shaping up to the be safest 3-series yet. From the latest set of F30 spy photos, we have now spotted side view cameras, which will likely be part of a camera package which also includes top and rear view parking cameras. From previous interior spy photos we’ve also spotted the lane change warning system. All will combine to provide safety features which have never before been seen in the 3-series!
We’ve posted plenty of F30 spy photos and videos, but this is a first — a F30 335i with blue front brake calipers. Despite their color, the brakes on this prototype don’t appear to be larger or a special design compared to other F30 335i prototypes, so it could be cosmetic only (perhaps as part of a special package). BMW does seem to have an affinity for blue brakes recently, as seen on the F10 M5. Or, these brakes could be for testing purposes only.
Also seen are some testing/recording equipment attached to each fender to monitor the brakes, wheels, and/or tires, as well as sensors on the calipers. The fender sensors appear to be microphones, so they may be for sound testing.
Seen clearly for the first … CONTINUED
First pictures of the Chinese Market BMW 3er Li. Like the BMW 5-series, the new BMW 3-series for the Chinese market will inherit an extended wheelbase model. Extra length in the rear will be a boon to Chinese customers in this segment where the car will face off with the Audi A4L. With BMW adding a 3-series Li, expect Mercedes-Benz to add a C-Klasse L when the next generation arrives.
Like all new F30′s for the Chinese market The 3erLi will be manufactured in China.
Whilst Europe and the US will not see the 3erLi , The platform will form the basis of the BMW 3er Gran Turismo which debuts in 2013. The 3er GT will benefit from the extended wheelbase for rear passengers.
The BMW 3er … CONTINUED
More photos of the 2012 335i from a recent testing session at the Nurburgring. The new photos continue to showcase the F30′s excellent stance and proportions, especially as it hunkers down around the turns.
The F30 3-series sedan will begin production in November 2011, shortly after the E90 3-series stops production. The F30 2012 Model Year will run until June 2012, upon which point it will switch to the 2013 Model Year.
F30 sales are expected to begin in Europe around the time of its world public premiere at the 2011 Geneva show – in March, 2012. US sales should begin in late Spring of 2012. Usually, production starts just two or three months prior to market launch, but we assume BMW will use … CONTINUED
