The on-again-off-again BMW supercar successor to the M1 is now rumored to be coming in 2016, according to Autobild. Why so long? Because the i8 electric hybrid sportscar launches in 2014 and BMW would like to give the i8 some time on the market without any potential sales cannibalization posed by a successor to the M1. We think it’s unlikely that BMW will revive the M1 nameplate, but may instead choose a previously unused and higher identifier - perhaps the M10 (which was recently trademarked).
The market introduction is so far away for this potential halo sports model that engine and performance specs are mostly speculative and subject to change, but the report speculates that it may be powered by a turbocharged V8 with 600-650 horsepowers, with … CONTINUED
Someone at BMW M HQ in Garching has been gabbing and has let on to Bimmerfile that the next generation 2014 F80 M3 may be getting electric power steering instead of the hydraulic power steering that M cars have always been equipped with (even with the latest M5 and M5).
Porsche’s new 911 991 is equipped with EPS which has been praised, which likely gives manufacturers such as BMW hope that a sporty EPS system can be developed for their most sporty cars - the M lineup.
The M3 CRT sounds off with its amazing sounding factory exhaust system with titanium mufflers, in this rare listen at the M3 CRT. Afterall, there were only 67 M3 CRTs made total, worldwide.
The F10 M5 has hit BMW’s Spartanburg Performance Center in force. There are now at least 15 new M5s being prepped for duty at the BMW M School in Spartanburg!
Among this fleet is the very first Sakhir Orange F10 M5 we have seen. Sakhir Orange is a new color available for 2013 M5s. You can see photos of all the other available M5 colors in our photo threads compilation.
All the M School M5s will be equipped with M Carbon Ceramic Brakes, an option which is actually being delayed for customer cars until next year.
Thanks to Philip for the photos.
A couple of production level F10 M5 sedans have been spotted for the first time with M carbon ceramic brakes, which we previously announced as being delayed until the 2013 calendar year sometime.
The gold ceramic brakes look great paired with the Alpine White M5!
Here’s a first real life look at the Frozen Blue Individual BMW M5 F10 M Performance Special Edition, which is currently on display at the Canary Wharf MotorExpo in London.

Russia is developing quite a pattern of originating some flashy (yes, understatement) colored BMWs. In the past two years, we’ve witnessed a gold leaf wrapped X5 M and a green chrome F10 5 series originate from the country.
Someone has now decided that Monte Carlo Blue, the flashiest F10 M5 color currently available from the factory, is still not eye catching enough. Why bother fooling around with traditional metallic paint colors or the matte paint options that are all the rage these days when you can just go chrome!
Spotted in Moscow recently was this chrome Monte Carlo Blue M5. How was the look achieved? If the green chrome F10’s process is any indication, it first had a chrome wrap applied, on top of which a translucent blue … CONTINUED
The 2013 M6 Coupe (F13) is not on the market yet, but has already received an upgrade in the form of enhanced aerodynamics, now with a standard trunk lip spoiler. The trunk lip spoiler hasn’t been seen on any photos or auto show debut cars, but here are the first photos.
The 2013 M6 coupe begins production next month (July) and will begin deliveries in September.
Here is a first look at the Kelleners Sport aero kit and exhaust system for the F10 M5. The cosmetic parts include a carbon fiber front spoiler lip, carbon fiber mirror covers, sideskirts, black rear bumper diffuser with carbon fiber fin, and carbon fiber trunk spoiler. Black 20″ Kelleners Hamburg wheels are fitted on the car.
For performance and sound, the Kelleners Sport full exhaust system with valve control has also been fitted. The valve system has been integrated in the rear silencer and can be opened and closed automatically, depending on the RPM and speed of the car. The valve starts in the closed mode at startup, but opens up at approximately 4000 RPM. An Export version (Sound+) is also available. The quad tips are stainless … CONTINUED
