After a few months of cold weather testing in the frozen climate of Sweden, the 2014 M3 F80 sedan has returned to further honing where it most belongs and excels - on the Nurburgring track. As we approach the warmer months we should begin to see it undergo hot weather testing where it will hopefully shed some more camouflage for the sake of adequate cooling.
In this sighting, we get some good close looks at the F80 M3 kidney grilles which we’ve pointed out before as being sleeker/sportier than that on the F30 3 Series. The production side view mirrors (which also be sportier in shape) have not yet been installed on any prototypes.

BMW of North America today announced that the all-new 560 horsepower 2013 M5 Sedan will participate in the grueling One Lap of America event starting May 4, 2012. Instructors from the BMW Performance Center, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, will drive the 3,300 mile tour that originates in South Bend, Indiana and incorporates highway, skid pad, drag strip, and closed course racing during the eight day event.
“The fifth generation M5 will compete for the new ‘Showroom Stock’ recognition within the Luxury Sedan class at One Lap of America, which serves as the perfect opportunity to demonstrate its performance capabilities as well as those of the BMW Performance Center instructors,” said Dan Gubitosa, BMW Performance Center Manager. We previously reported that the 2013 M5 (F10) US pricing will be announced upon the 2012 NYIAS which takes place the first week of April. We’ve now learned that the 2013 M6 Coupe and 2012 Convertible [official info] US pricing will also be released at the same time.
The 2012 M5 was recently announced for the Canadian market at a starting price of $101,500 CAD. Expect the US pricing for the 2013 M5 to be somewhere in the high-$80k to mid-$90k range. And if the previous generation M5 and M6 pricing provides any guidance, the 2013 M6 coupe and 2012 cabrio may be at least 18-20% and 25-27% higher than the 2013 M5 price.

Motortrend gets its hand on the F10 M5 for an in depth evaluation and performance testing. They achieved an impressive 3.7sec 0-60mph and 11.9sec quarter mile (@ 120.3mph).
Along the way they call the F10 M5 probably the best M5 ever, from driver feedback to all-out performance. We see their complaint about the large gap between comfort and sport mode as a positive as it means that the new M5’s range and effectiveness while wearing its many hats is better than ever.

Site member and renowned driver Advevo shows how much driving skill equalizes the power and performance difference between cars. The 1M is no slouch but on paper it gives up much to the lightweight M3 GTS, but Advevo manages to keep it a very close race on this Nurbrugring lap.
This lap by Advevo in his 1M was completed in just 7.45, an impressive task in and of itself.
