We spoke very recently at length to a trusty source within BMW who is familiar with the development of the upcoming F80 M3 sedan / F82 M4 coupe and we were able to learn the following bits of news:
HORSEPOWER / TORQUE
Regarding power output, the previously estimated 450HP figure is an overestimate. Instead, expect the horsepower output to be in ballpark of the current E90/E92 M3.
What will be increased greatly however, is the torque figure. The F80/F82′s multi turbo inline 6 cylinder engine [recently exposed] will add approximately 100 lb-ft more torque over the current M3 (which outputs 295 lb-ft torque). This would put the new M3/M4 in the range of 395 lb-ft torque. There’s nothing like forced induction for thrust!

Studie AG has also gotten their hands on the F10 M5 and begun work fitting multiple wheels and parts onto their project M5.
The car has been lowered on KW Clubsport suspension and test fitted with 20″ Advan Racing GT, 21″ Advan AVS Model F15, 21″ AC Schnitzer Type VIII, and the full AC Schnitzer aero kit.
Great news for those M5 and M6 owners affected by the faulty oil pump recall. Less than two weeks after the recall was announced, the first oil pump replacements are underway and completed. The first M5POST member has just shared that his replacement pump is in and his M6 already on its way back to him.
EAS has dynoed a 2013 M6 DCT coupe. The M6 with its S63Tu motor is rated from the factory at 560hp / 502 lb-ft torque. This particular M6 put down a max 503hp / 488lb-ft torque (SAE) at the rear wheels. This was achieved on regular 91 octane pump gas and a Dynojet 224xLC.
There are still slots open for free dynos, so check inside if you are from the SoCal area and would like to run your F10 M5 or F12/F13 M6 on the dyno.
Check out this major update to the 2013 M5 (F10) project car by IND. It now features the world’s first carbon fiber roof fitted onto the F10 M5, 20″ BBS FI wheels, KW Clubsport coilovers, carbon fiber Recaro seats, GruppeM air intake system, and 3D Design aero kit, and Full Eisenmann center pipes + rear exhaust installed.
Look for the IND M5 to make its debut at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas next month.

The BMW M display at this year’s 2012 Paris auto show featured the latest M models to be released – the F10 M5 and F12 M6 coupe. What you see is the 2013 M6 in Sakhir Orange, its launch color. The 2013 M5 wears Frozen Grey, a BMW Individual color which looked excellent under the show lights. Also on display was the M5/M6′s monster 560hp V8 twin turbo S63Tu engine.

The upcoming BMW i8 hybrid electric sports car will effectively be BMW’s halo sports car once it’s released in 2014/2015. And although an M version is not expected to be released, we couldn’t help but let our imagination run wild a bit for an M model race version, including a full carbon fiber model. Enjoy!
We have been reporting and referring to the upcoming F32 and F82 models as the 4 Series Coupe and M4 Coupe for months now, and Automobile now comes in with their ruminations on what the M4 and 4 series lineup will bring.
