A resourceful F30POST member went BMW VIN diving and may have uncovered many details for the upcoming BMW M3 Sedan (F80) and M4 Coupe (F82)!

While obviously no production F80 M3 or F82 M4 have rolled off the line yet, manufacturers like BMW register VINs for their pre-production test cars, so finding the details behind such VINs can reveal much about the upcoming production models (although keep in mind that everything is subject to change by the time the model hits production).

So, what does the BMW M4 coupe’s VIN reveal?

The highlight is the 310kW (415 hp) S55 3.0L inline 6 engine listed. Consistent with the information we’ve been posting, this would have the next M3 and M4 featuring similar horsepower figures to the current M3 (414 … CONTINUED

Per M5POST member hsiaochinsan:

Awesome meet today in a sunny afternoon in Bay Area (Palo Alto Meet). It was a fun meet to meet and get to know other local F10 M5 owners. We had a great time. First time seeing krispykreme’s Amazonite Silver M5. The color was astonishing. Great to re-unit with cnicholson after our ED meet. Barry’s car looks sharp with his H&R and spacer set up. Sanguru and Barry’s Eisenmann set-up was amazing. We also got to see wdimagineer’s AW with his M6 steering wheel, Akrapovic, HRE P40C, and other OEM euro goodies.

We’ve spied the upcoming LCI facelift updated 5 Series again, and the sighting comes on the first Plug-in Hybrid 5 Series we’ve spotted. The LCI update will facelift the entire 5 Series lineup, including the F10 sedan, F11 touring, F07 GT, and the F10 M5, although the styling updates do not look to be too drastic.

EXTERIOR

The F10 LCI prototypes spotted thus far have shown slightly sportier side mirrors, with integrated turn signals (still camouflaged on previous prototypes seen). Some LCI prototypes have been spotted with a new optional LED headlights option with squared off angel eyes/corona rings. The standard xenon lights (as spotted on this prototype) will retain circular angel eyes. The tail light graphics will receive a new look.

The front and rear bumpers will … CONTINUED

Germany based Hartge has released the figures on its ECU software tune for the M5 and M6 good for 642hp and 810 Nm (597 lb-ft), representing an increase of +82 hp and +130 Nm (96 lb-ft) over the factory figures.

Hartge quotes a new 0-62mph time of 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 190mph (305kmh).

This is achieved with the ECU tune as well as a stainless steel exhaust system.

The Hartge F10 M5 below also showcases Hartge lowering springs which lowers the M5 by 25mm front / 20mm rear, as well as the Hartge front lip (still unpainted we hope), side skirts, and carbon fiber mirror covers.

CAR Magazine claims that these 2014 F80 M3 sedan images are the real deal, received from BMW. But, judging by their recent history with a false claim that a F10 M5 image they printed was also the real thing, we’re inclined to think that this may again be a case of crying wolf.
