We recently posted our first set of BMW M4 Coupe renders based off the 4 Series Coupe Concept, and we now bring you even more interpretations previewing the F82 M4, by resident artist E92Alpine328i.

We started with the 4 Series Coupe Coupe and incorporated what the M3/M4 prototype spy photos and videos have revealed so far, along with some speculation and imagination.

To recap, here is an updated list of what we know about the F80/F82 so far:

Lighter than current M3

BimmerWorld has started a build journal documenting the preparation of their V8 project M3 race car. They have gathered a lot of information and continue to do so.

Via JamesClay, BimmerWorld Team owner:

Red Line Oil has partnered with us on this project because they love the BMW marque almost as much as we do, and because they are also car guys who enjoy building something and running it around a track as more than something to slap a decal on. We have learned a lot from Red Line as we have interacted more frequently, and that too will show up here from time to time, not as a commercial message but hopefully more as a sharing of knowledge that is the reason we put Red … CONTINUED

We’ve put together some renders of what the BMW M4 Coupe (F82) may look like, starting with the 4 Series Coupe Coupe and incorporating what the M3/M4 prototype spy photos and videos have revealed so far, along with some speculation/imagination.

We’ve given the M4 the 1M+M6 style front bumper spied on the F80 M3 prototypes, but the M4 bumper will likely look somewhat different. We’ve also incorporated the M sideskirts, wide fenders and hood bulge spied in the prototype photos. It may also get double slatted grilles with M4 badge and a shaped carbon fiber roof, both like on the M6 Coupe.

We’ve always projected that the successor to the current M3 coupe would be called the M4 coupe, to reflect the fact that the 4 Series coupe was coming. Now, not only has the 4 Series been revealed and confirmed, but Car and Driver claims that BMW has confirmed the switch to the BMW M4 badge for the coupe version of the next M3.

The M4 coupe is designated as the F82 and the M3 sedan as the F80.

BMW Motorsport returned to the DTM in 2012 after almost 20 years away, and the results in its comeback year exceeded all expectations. Canadian driver Bruno Spengler won the drivers’ title, BMW Team Schnitzer finished in top spot in the team standings, and BMW claimed the manufacturers’ honours.

BMW M GmbH is celebrating this success with the unveiling of the BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition. Mimicking the looks of Spengler’s racing car, this special-edition model is available exclusively in Frozen Black metallic, while the carbon flaps and gurney, various dark chrome elements, matt black wheels and sections of the race car’s livery also betray its close links with the triumphant BMW M3 DTM. The theme is continued by the BMW M stripe design over the CFRP … CONTINUED

Seeing the 2014 M3 Sedan (F80) in the harsh winter of northern Sweden this time of the year for cold weather testing is no surprise. Nor is seeing the prototype at a gas station being refueled.

But, the type of fuel that this F80 M3 test car was being filled with by its driver was certainly surprising. An astute witness captured these images at a gas station in Kode, Sweden, while witnessing the test driver of the M3 refueling the car with E85 ethanol fuel (a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline).

So, is BMW testing an M3 which is powered by ethanol fuel? Very unlikely. Human error seems to be the cause as the witness described the seemingly confused test driver first grab the wrong … CONTINUED

Jeremy Clarkson and James May praise the E92 M3 coupe during a segment in the just released Top Gear special “Top Gear: The Worst Car In The History Of The World.”

While piloting a Santorini Blue M3 coupe around the track, Clarkson declares the E90/E92 M3 as pretty much perfect. Have a looksie inside - the segment starts at 18:15 of the video.
