Comparing the M3 to the pasty software engineer, Ken Jennings, who kept winning on Jeopardy, and whose success annoys some people by administering beat-downs on some of the world’s best cars, C/D drove from their editorial HQ in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to Virginia International Raceway (VIR) to find out if the C63 AMG coupe is the M3’s real-estate agent from Ventura.

Some say the BMW M3 is beginning to show its age, especially considering the all-new F30 3-series has already been spotted in testing. As far as performance is concerned however, the E92 M3 coupe continues to impress and dispose of even recently introduced competition, such as the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe. Many pegged the C63 AMG coupe to give the M3 a run for its money, if not overtake it. The C63 AMG Coupe debuted recently to much buzz because it represents Mercedes’ best direct competitor to the BMW M3 coupe yet. Autobild has printed their first drive impressions comparing the two German sports coupes, and have also thrown in the RS5 coupe to include all 3 similar offerings from Germany’s top 3 luxury makes. This is certainly becoming a predictable pattern and result. AMS Magazine stacks the deck against the M3 ZCP by pitting it against the RS5, C63 Performance Package, and the ALpina B3 S. The M3 ZCP is touted for its performance as well as its driving comfort. Full performance results inside.
If anyone thinks that the recent C&D M3 win was a fluke, they now have quite a pattern to dispute, as Motortrend has also declared the M3 as the benchmark which the RS5 and CTS-V still falls short of. When it comes to things that matter – performance, passion, pure driver appeal, the M3 still trumps all in its segment!
