The debut of the all-new 2013 BMW M6 models also marks the debut of the long-awaited M Carbon Ceramic Brakes option. Details are limited so far but we’ve compiled what’s known so far:

The M Carbon Ceramic Brakes have bigger rotors at the front axle (410mm vs 400mm standard), reduce the unsprung weight by 19.4 kg or 42.8 lb, and obviously increase fade resistance. While the standard brake calipers for the M6 models are painted in dark blue metallic, the carbon ceramic brakes are painted in a noble gold shade.

There’s no word on pricing yet, but they won’t be cheap for sure (option code is 2NK). The M Carbon Ceramic brakes will be available for the BMW M6 models and — from July production on — for … CONTINUED

There’s a little rush that comes from getting a first peek at a yet-to-be-revealed model’s styling, especially if it’s an M model, and even if it’s just a diagram. We’re happy to share with you the first look at the upcoming 2013 M6 coupe/convertible’s external styling bits, from official parts diagrams.

These M6 parts diagrams give us a good view at the upcoming 2013 M6 front and rear bumpers. As M6 spyshots suggested, the M6 follows the latest M styling cues with its inverted-mouth front bumper design previously seen on the E9x M3 and F10 M5 models. The lower edge of the outside front bumpers (splitters) appear sportier than that of the new F10 M5. The spoiler lip seen in spy photos will also form part of … CONTINUED

We bring you the latest live look and listen at the upcoming new M6 coupe (F13) and convertible (F12) undergoing some final testing at the Nurburgring. We’ve also posted below a set of photos from the testing.

Not much camouflage remains, so its general shape and styling is easy to imagine. As for sounds, the M6 sounds quite similar to the F10 M5, owing to sharing the M5’s 4.4L 560hp twinpower twin turbo V8 S63Tu engine [specs]. This prototype appears to be testing carbon ceramic brakes, which will be an optional upgrade.

There’s no final word on debut and availability of the BMW F12/F13 M6 but we expect BMW to officially unveil the M6 in late 2011/early 2012 with a market launch in 2012.

Be sure to follow all … CONTINUED

Last week we spied the exposed BMW M6 coupe’s front end M styled bumper. Working off those images, we’ve produced a render which reveals what the M6 coupe should resemble when all the camouflage comes off. Look for an M6 coupe reveal sometime later this year/early next year.

We have just spied a 2012 M6 coupe bearing its and rear end designs clearly on the streets of Munich for the first time. We recently had a brief look at the M6’s bumper styling when it first appeared uncovered while testing (and crashing unfortunately) on the Nurburgring.

We can now tell clearly that the M6 coupe does not simply adopt the F10 M5’s front lower bumper design whole cloth, but has its own sleek take on it. The biggest difference are the side air ducts, which angle up sharply on the M6. The fins/splitters which sit underneath the side air ducts are also longer on the M6 compared to the M5. Overall it blends the F10 M5’s and E85 Z4 M Roadster/Coupe’s bumper styling, with a … CONTINUED

The 2012 BMW M6 has dropped some camouflage, revealing much of its front and rear bumper/diffuser styling for the first time. The front bumper appears to be a bit more aggressive than the F10 M5’s front bumper, with larger and more prominent ‘fins’ coming out/down from the bumper. The rear diffuser also features some aggressive styling, with prominent fins in the rear as well. The M6 coupe may also be featuring a carbon fiber roof, as the roof’s camouflage still remains.

The occasion unfortunately ended with a crash. Today marked the beginning of testing week at the Nurburgring and while most of the M6’s testing run was in the dry, the last 4 kilometers were in the wet. While negotiating the ‘Galgenkopf’ corner, the M6 coupe lost … CONTINUED
