Two F15 X5s were just spotted during transportation in a cargo plane and while their exteriors remain camouflaged (previously revealed exterior photos below), we get some nice clear looks at their interiors.
As seen in previous spy shots, the F15 X5’s features a multi-layered dashboard design look and is both more driver-centric and upright compared to the current X5’s dashboard.
You can see the black panel display gauges, large free-standing navigation/infotainment LCD screen and new iDrive Touch system.
The US will receive the following models in the first model year: sDrive35i, xDrive35i, xDrive35d, xDrive50i. All of these models will begin production in August 2013, except the xDrive35d which begins production in December 2013. The European models are listed here. The reveal of the all new 2014 BMW X5 (F15) is imminent, but testing continues on the F15 X5 M.
Testing on the F15 X5 M began last year [first sighting], but current mules have now dropped much camouflage. What’s revealed are the expected signature M components - huge front air intakes, aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X5 model). We also get a better look at the quad exhaust pipes which, unlike the current X5 M, feature a new angled design (like we’ve seen on the F82 M4 prototypes).
The F15 X5 is expected to weigh less than the current E70 X5 and ride on a modified version of the F10 5 series chassis. As for … CONTINUED
Have a look at the more exposed 2014 X5 (F15) prototype which has dropped some major camouflage to reveal much more of its styling and design.
FRONT FASCIA / LIGHTS
We can now clearly see the front bumper design, with its integrated air curtain vents. Also clearly visible now are the tail lights and headlight designs, which connect to the kidney grilles as we reported before. The grilles are larger, wider, and have a thicker surround than those on the current X5. It retains the 7 slat design.
The hoodline has been moved to above the kidney grilles, but conform to the grilles and headlight shapes, instead of the higher (and more unattractive) hoodlines seen on newer BMW models such as the 3, 5, and 7 Series.

It’s the start of a big testing week for BMW at the Nurburgring, where we’ve just spied the next generation BMW X5 M (F15) in testing. Check out the photos inside. Expect the X5M as a 2015 model year.
BMW continues testing of the 2014 F15 X5 and we’ve just spied a prototype exposing the standard model bumper. The previous model spied (pics below) featured large intakes, likely from the M Sport or X5 M, but this test mule gives us the first look at the standard F15 X5’s front apron design.
It’s also the first time we see that the F15 X5 will feature integrated air curtain vents in its bumper design. Those who are not fans of the hood cutlines (separated from the kidney grilles) on the recent BMW models will appreciate that the 2014 X5’s hood cutline goes up to and traces the tops of the kidney grilles.

A couple of 2014 X5 (F15) prototypes flashed their grilles for the first time during one recent test run and our quick acting spies managed to capture it before their camouflage were reattached.
As we’ve reported previously, the grilles are indeed larger, wider, and bolder than those on the current X5. It retains the 7 slat design, but the grilles now dominate more of the front fascia and has a much thicker grille surround than the current X5 - see the comparison image below.

We’ve just spied the next generation BMW X5 M prototype beginning its testing! Although still clad in full camouflage, signature M features leave no doubt that we are looking at the next X5 M.
The most conspicuous items are the quad M exhausts, active differential and blue brake calipers, which have become the signature color for M model brakes (i.e. F10 M5 and F12/F13 M6). Seen behind the blue M brakes are drilled rotors, the first for any X5 model. Hiding behind the front end camouflage are huge air intakes and we get a very clear look at how the headlights will connect to the kidney grilles, in the same fashion as on the F30 3 Series.
