Good news for iPhone 5 owners. The BMW iPhone snap-in adapter for the iPhone 5 is now available, ahead of the original estimated delivery frame of June 2013.
When Apple released the iPhone 5 in September of last year, with it came a change to its connector from the previous 30-pin to the new 8-pin ‘Lightning’ connector. This change meant that the newest iPhone would not work with BMW’s past iPhone snap-in-adapters.

From summer 2013, BMW Night Vision will additionally feature a specific animal recognition system that extends beyond the reach of the main-beam headlights. An infrared thermal imaging camera mounted in the BMW kidney grille is able to detect heat-emitting objects from a distance of some 100 metres, while distinguishing between humans and animals by the level of heat.

BMW Manufacturing announced today the successful expansion of the company’s hydrogen fuel-cell material handling equipment across its 4.0 million square foot production facility. In 2010, BMW completed the installation of a hydrogen storage and distribution area near the plant’s Energy Center to power about 100 pieces of fuel cell material handling equipment. Since that time, the company has more than doubled its hydrogen-fuel cell fleet to approximately 230 units to service the entire plant’s production and logistics functions.

Before BMW’s driving assistance systems become reality in the various models, they have to be tested. With the dynamic driving simulator experts can create virtual situations in daily life to check the functionality of these systems. This high-tech testing is necessary to guarantee the passenger´s safety on the road.
BMW Group and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) are pursuing their successful strategic long-term cooperation in the field of sustainable mobility today by signing binding agreements aimed at long-term collaboration between the two companies for the joint development of a fuel cell system, joint development of architecture and components for a sports vehicle, and joint research and development of lightweight technologies. Toyota Motor Corp. is nearing a final agreement to license its fuel-cell vehicle technology to BMW AG, the Nikkei reported today.
Under the agreement, to be made official as early as Thursday, Toyota will provide the world’s largest premium carmaker with drivetrain and hydrogen storage technology, the business daily said.
BMW will use the technology to build a prototype vehicle by 2015, with plans for a market release around 2020, the Nikkei said.
