Alpina, the BMW tuning specialists, has released and revealed the 2012 Alpina BMW B3 GT3 E92 at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. This model will be a special production run limited to just 99 units.
The B3 GT3’s B3 S Bi-turbo motor is good for 408hp and 398 lb-ft torque. It’s paired with an Akrapovic titanium rear silencer. All this propels the B3 GT3 from 0-62mph in just 4.6 seconds.
Some M3POST member’s supercharged M3s have set the quarter mile trap speed record on street tires. The M3s were supercharged with ESS 535 (DCT) supercharger, ESS 625 (6spd) supercharger, and AA Stage 2 supercharger and DCT.
The runs were made at Atco Raceway in some cool temperatures (45 degrees F).
1SICKM managed a trap speed record of 125mph and ran times of 11.6 and 11.8. Akh23456’s M3 managed even faster 1/4 mile times in 11.2 - 11.3.

AC Schnitzer will be debuting its new 6 series coupe (650i) tuning program at the Essen Motor Show (think German equivalent of SEMA) next week and here are its first photos and video.
The ACS 6 program offers an aero kit with front bumper lip spoiler, chrome bumper grille, rear diffuser, rear trunk spoiler, and chrome exhaust tailpipes.
For performance, the ACS 650i has been tuned to produce 540 PS (533 hp) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft torque). This is an increase of 131 hp and 111 lb-ft of torque over the factory specs. These power figures accelerate the 650i from 0-100kmh in 4.3 seconds and the top speed is 202mph.
Missed the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas? No worries, Johnny Lin provides us with a mega gallery of BMW models at the event (along with some other fine looking German vehicles). Hope you got the bandwidth to keep up =)
BMW’s new 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo engine (the “N20″) may be down on cylinders and displacement compared to the inline 6 cylinder (N52) that it replaces across BMW’s model range, but even in factory form, it matches the outgoing N52’s horsepowers and features an extra 30 lb-ft of torque (in the X1 xDrive28i, X3 xDrive28i, F20 128i, 528i, Z4 sDrive28i, and upcoming F30 328i).
And what the N20 loses in smoothness and top-end pull compared to the outgoing N52, it now looks like it will easily make up for in tuneability. Kelleners Sport has released the specs of its N20 tune and the figures are impressive! These are power gains that the naturally aspirated N52 could never achieve.
The Kelleners N20 tune achieves 294 hp and … CONTINUED
Studie is perhaps the most well known Japanese tuner of BMWs with their generally reserved, but still attactive modified cars. They’ve now undertaken their project 1M coupe and the first aspects they’ve tackled is the handling and reducing unsprung weight.
They’ve fitted the 1M with KW Clubsport suspension and replaced the factory wheels with 19″ BBS RI-D wheels, which weigh just 15.9 F / 16.5 R pounds, a saving of 40.8 pounds of unsprung weight over the stock wheels!
Judging by Studie’s tendencies, we should also soon see some cosmetic aero parts fitted to their 1M.
H&R has assembled a showcase BMW 1M Coupe for this week’s SEMA show and it’s an exercise in restrained tuning. Keeping it simple and classic (vintage even), this project 1M is limited to a few high-end performance parts
iND continues to push the M3 project tuning benchmark higher with their latest build - the Green Hell Portfolio Project M3. IND’s Green Hell Portfolio Project car was first conceived as a concept immediately following their amazing journey to the home of all European motorsport and BMW’s own home country, Germany. Their yearly pilgrimage to the promised land served as fuel to inspire the original Green Hell project, a car that was built as homage to all things racing and the Nurburgring in particular.
