The a-workx M3 won its saloon class at the 2009 Tuner Grand Prix over competitors such as C63 AMGs, proving that the M3 with some modest handling upgrades can beat out even HP monsters on the track.

After a two decade hiatus, Alpina returned to motorsports last year with the Alpina B6 GT. Here are some behind the scenes look at the Alpina B6 GT during its first racing season. Based on BMWs 6-Series coupe, the B6 weighs under 3,000 pounds and gets a supercharged 4.4-liter V8 that gives more than 520 horsepower and 535 pound-feet of torque.

Although non-German speaking folks may not be able to understand the conversation, sometimes race cars like the B6 GT are best observed by simply watching and listening to the action.

Backed by a six-speed X-Trac sequential gearbox, the car is reportedly capable of hitting 62 miles-per-hour in 3.9 seconds en route to a top whack of at least 177 … CONTINUED

The X6M seems to be the current vehicle of tuning choice for several notable tuners. At the 2010 Geneva show, Lumma has debuted their CLR X 650 M, a visually and mechanically upgraded version of the X6M. The cosmetic upgrades are obvious, but underneath the hood, the power has been bumped to 650ps.

Hamann has debuted its “Tycoon” X6M at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. the Tycoon is a 670hp/737lb-ft torque monster (+123hp / 236tq over factory), and it looks like it. The ECU has been reflashed and paired with an exhaust system. While some may not like the radical look, this is undeniably a car which gets some attention.

Unexpected debuts have been rare so far at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, but one car which we didnt expect to see was a new Alpina B3 based on the LCI (facelifted) E92 coupe. Power has been bumped up to 400hp / 397lb-ft tq and the car has been fitted with some beautiful aero parts and a stunning interior. Check out the B3 S and the other Alpinas present inside.

The Japanese auto tuning scene is arguably the most dedicated and developed in the world. WSTO recently visited several Japanese tuners with whom they have partnered with, including Dort, Bond, and Studie. Check inside for their great write-up on Dort and the Japanese tuning scene. G-Powers creations are never short on power and its latest production, the "Storm," a 760i with 725hp (@5500rpm) and 738lb-ft torque (@2000rpm) certainly does not buck that trend! G-Power was to achieve these monster numbers by boosting the 6.0L V12 bi-turbos boost to .9 bar, adding larger injection valves, custom tuning the ECU, and replacing the factory exhaust system. The Storm is claimed to be capable of 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 215mph!

The 760is 8 speed auto transmission has also been modified to deal with the massive increase in torque. The suspension rides on sportier replacements and lowers the ride height by 1.2 inches.
