Ok, you guys be the judge on this one.

This is a new “performance” knob from ACS which introduces the concept of a large red lighted number to tell you which gear you are in.

ACS claims that as of now, determining which gear you are in is based off of feel; but with this new knob you get a visual display and its “cool”.

On the positive side it should be very simple to install and fits all BMWs and Minis.

Well, definitly not my cup of tea, but you guys be the judge!

We started off the trip in San Francisco. We gased up and headed over to the Bay Bridge. It was pitch black by the time we hit the Oregon border and when we arrived at Portland the sun began to come out. At this point, all three drivers were pissed tired. evo119 and dr.phuOnger? had both taken a 5 hour energy boost. longtran was running on red bull and pumpkin seeds. We pressed onto Seattle and I took a few rolling shots since the freeway was pretty open at 6 am on Saturday morning.

As epitomised by the D3 Coupe, gaining extra performance simply by substituting a larger engine is alien to the ALPINA philosophy. Instead, the manufacturer, working closely with BMW, maximises the sporting potential of existing units.… CONTINUED
