Here’s a first video of the BMW 328 Hommage, at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, on the grounds of the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este on Lake Como, where 50 historic and iconic cars built between the twenties and seventies are displayed in a celebration of automotive past. No engine rev unfortunately, but it does have a nice burble.
The M3POST vs. MBWORLD Royal Purple Forum Wars episode has just aired. The race pitted M3POST member Drake Kemper in his E92 M3 versus his opponent in a C63 AMG and included a quarter mile run, an autocross run, and a slalom. We won’t spoil the results for you, so see inside.
BMWUSA has posted up their newest BMW 6-Series TV Ad, which is titled “The Moment”. The ad features the topless 6 barelling down canyon roads and through tunnels at good speed with the V8 growl providing a soundtrack. All the elements needed for a good commercial. The punchline at the end of course is to “Remember to Breath”, which is BMWUSA’s theme for the new 6.

As a nice followup to their 5-Series review, Rosenthal Automotive comes up with another unique BMW video review. Its more fun then serious, but a worthwhile watch.
Over 52 teams from 21 European countries competed in the recently concluded BMW X3 Games 2011. Over 15,000 registrations entered for this contest of physical and sports events in Geneva to win three new BMW X3s (for the winning team). The 6 disciplines in which the contestants competed were: running, golf, skiing, driving, mountain biking and sailing.
In the end, it was team from Hungary who each went home with a brand spanking new X3.
Southern California appears to be a hotbed for FEP stage F10 M5 prototype testing, as multiple test cars are spotted each week. Another black F10 M5 prototype was just spotted last week (video/photos inside). The chase car was no slouch – an E39 M5, and it still had problems keeping up in the beginning of the video.

BMW UK has launched the first commercial for 1-series M coupe, which recently went on sale in England. The commercial features a valencia orange 1M coupe on some empty twisties in the countryside poised to swallow up some tarmac, followed by some serious driving. It’s rare to see tire smoke, much less drifting, in a BMW commercial, so the 1M is clearly being advertised by BMW as a model for serious driving enthusiasts.

An astute (and camera equipped) site member spotted this Le Mans blue F13 6-series coupe M-sport on the way to work this morning. This is the first time we have seen the 6-series coupe M-sport prototype with the actual M-sport wheels, which we uncovered last month. Thanks to LeMans335xiE90 for his efforts, as he was 1 hour late to work for bringing us this video.

First video of a top speed run in a BMW 1M coupe result in a reading of 264km/h (164mph)! The video shows just how strong the 1M pulls in all ranges, even above 100mph. The car has also been tuned by BMW to sound great from the cockpit, with a great mixture of engine, air induction, and exhaust noise. Check out the run inside.
BMW participated in the 2011 National Aftersales Convention in Las Vegas at the end of March where they put on a live driving event to showcase the entire range of BMW Performance parts offerings. The event provided a back-to-back driving experience comparing regular factory cars and models fitted with BMW Performance parts. M-Power.com has just published a new video of the F10 M5 at BMW’s own racetrack in Miramas, France. BMW gives us another glimpse at the testing procedures they perform, including high speed (> 300 km/h or 190mph), launch control vs. smoky burnout, wet handling course and general performance testing. They have obviously also reworked the launch control function of the M DCT and gives us a neat demonstration. The BMW engineers are optimizing the new BMW M5 even for extreme conditions.
