Preh GmbH, an automotive supplier to BMW, Audi, and Mercedes, of climate controls, driver controls, sensor systems, ECUs, and instruments panels, has released a clip which previews some of the uses and functions which a touchpad iDrive controller could incorporate and facilitate.

A prototype touchpad iDrive controller system has already been spied on the 2014 BMW X5 (F15) test mule, so we can expect it to begin appearing on BMW models by the end of 2013 / early 2014 with the release of the 2014 X5.

Some of the features shown in the video (such as blackpanel surfaces) do not apply, as it was part of a new center console design concept presented by Preh as the 2007 IAA, but what’s interesting is seeing the use of an … CONTINUED

BMW releases a new commercial focusing on the mantra for some of the latest current M models (F10 M5, 1M Coupe) and certainly for future models – high performance with efficient dynamics. Being able to have one’s cake and eat it too.

Their official message: Efficient dynamics, high performance, fuel efficiency; you can have it all when you drive a BMW M. Some people say it’s having your cake and eating it too. We say, it’s The Ultimate Driving Machine

BMW has just debuted the BMW Zagato Coupe at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy.

BMW may be based in Bavaria, but some of its notable designs flowed from the hands of Italian designers who were responsible for the looks of the BMW 3200 Michelotti Vignale (1959), BMW 700 (1959), BMW 3200 CS Bertone (1962) and BMW M1 (1978).

In the latest set of Euro NCAP results, the BMW 3 Series has received Euro NCAP’s maximum five star rating. The BMW 3 Series in particular achieved a commendable 78% in pedestrian protection, a good result for a compact executive car with no active bonnet.

The F30 3 series scored 95% in adult occupant protection, 84% in child occupant protection and 86% in safety assist technology.
