Edmunds Inside Line has taken the F10 2011 535i out to the track for some testing. Here are the video and performance results they managed to achieve with the 535i. Performance measures recorded include 0-60 time, 1/4 mile, slalom speed, skid pad lateral acceleration (G’s), and braking distance.
This is a short but very tantalizing clip of the upcoming F10 M5! Drifting around a wet corner at the Nurburgring, the M5 sounds like it’s in the upper RPM range as it powers out of the corner. That’s the tweaked version of the S63 V8 twin turbo motor from the X5M/X6M you’re hearing, and we expect it to make 585-600hp in the new M5.
The 2012 M5 is expected to premier at the 2011 Frankfurt IAA autoshow in September 2011.
Here are the first clips we’ve seen of the BMW Performance Exhaust matched to a N55 motor and it sounds terrific! N55 BMWs come from the factory with a throatier exhaust than the N54 due to the absence of two mid cats. Paired with a Performance Exhaust, the N55’s growl is amplified beautifully.
How often do you see a “truck” accelerating this fast, with the needle moving revving so quickly, and sounding this good? Probably never, unless you’re looking at an X5M or X6M and its monster S63 motor. Check out this very visceral video of the X5M from outside and inside.

BMW documents the ultimate testdrive experience — Twelve BMW fanatics from Canada got the chance last year to drive BMW X5M or BMW X6M on the Salzburgring and then pilot BMW Formula Cars on the Nurburgring, all courtesy of Endras BMW.
The twin turbo V8 F10 550i sounds fairly aggressive from the factory, but never ones to leave stock alone, our members have begun to their F10 exhausts. These electronic exhaust cutouts have given this 550i some added rumble without the need for a full exhaust swap.
BMW M3 GT2 cars place third and sixth in this weekend’s Mid-Ohio ALMS race. This represents the eighth podium finish in the sixth race for BMW Rahal Letterman Racing. BMW is now currently tied for the championship lead with three races remaining. Bonus in-car video inside.
