Contrary to earlier rumors, the C63 AMG Coupe is powered by Merc’s famous 6.2l V8, resulting in an maximum output of 451hp (481hp with optional AMG Development Pack) and a maximum torque of 443 lb-ft. The all new 6-series coupe has just been unveiled and we think she’s a beauty. Looks are of course in the eyes of the beholder, but we also think she compares favorably against the predecessor E63 6-series coupe, inside and out. We’ve put together a photo comparison so you can make your own judgements.
Here’s how the new F13 6-series coupe compares with the outgoing model:

Here’s the comparison we’ve all been waiting for – Top Gear’s comparison between the E92 M3 with Competition Package and the Audi RS5. We won’t spoil the result for you, but the comparison starts 4:40 into this video.
Here’s another BMW vs. Mercedes photo comparison. Shortly after the world debut in their Super Bowl commercial, Mercedes unveiled the all new C-Class Coupe. It’s based on the existing and well known C-Class variants and features — unlike any other coupe Mercedes-Benz makes — a B-pillar and fixed side/rear windows. Size, layout and even some design cues instantly identify it as a strong competitor for the E92 3-series Coupe LCI launched less than a year ago. See for yourself how both fare side to side with … CONTINUED
Here is an updated comparison of the now officially released C63 AMG facelift photos versus the E90 M3 sedan.
Unlike the CLS 63 AMG, the C63 AMG is still powered by the naturally aspirated 6.2 l V8, rated at 451hp and 443 lb-ft in the C63. Most significant changes are the switch from the traditional 7-speed auto to the AMG-MCT7 and the introduction of a Start/Stop feature. It’s uncertain however if the latter will make it to the US.
Better be fast if you consider the E90 M3 … CONTINUED
BMW recently unveiled first details on their new 2 litre inline-4 TwinPower Turbo petrol engine. In terms of this engine’s competitors, the first thing that comes to mind in terms of competition is Audi’s 2.0TFSI engine. They currently run two engine generations, the older EA113 as still found in the TT-S and the newer EA888 powering virtually all 2.0TFSI models. The latter also includes Valvelift which is roughly comparable to BMW’s Valvetronic.
Here are all figures you need to know to draw a comparison and figure … CONTINUED
German AMS has published an interesting article comparing the BMW 525d sedan with the Jaguar XF 3.0 V6 D.
Unlike the name suggests, the 525d is powered by BMW’s N57 3.0l inline-6 Diesel engine, yet with a lower output of 204hp and 450 NM (530d: 258hp). It’s quite popular in Europe because it’s the entry level inline-6 Diesel. The car tested was matched with the optional 8-speed automatic.
Just like the name suggests, the Jaguar XF 3.0 V6 D is powered by a 275ph 3.0l V6 … CONTINUED
The guys over @ Motor Trend have put up this mega 11 page comparison between the large sedan offerings from all the usual suspects in the large luxury sedan game. But they didn’t just make this a booring old comparison, they threw in all the non-traditional offerings that are available from automakers you wouldn’t have expected 10, 5 or even 1 year ago.
Why all these large luxury sedans in this economic climate anyways? Despite the bad economy, almost every automaker has refreshed their luxo offerings … CONTINUED
Here’s a first teaser for one of the most heated ‘battles’ in 2011. Audi recently pulled the wraps off their all new A6, and this encouraged the folks at Autozeitung to a first comparison. The contenders: BMW F10 5-series and Mercedes-Benz E-class.
Autozeitung on the exterior:
“There are no suprises here, all three cars are in good shape and will age well. The Mercedes is rather ‘classic’, the BMW as usual sporty due to it aggresive kidney grilles. The design of the Audi is sharp and … CONTINUED
Mercedes pulling the wraps off their new SLK (R172) is reason enough for another photo comparison. This one is particularly interesting as BMW’s move to build the current Z4 (E89) with a folding steel roof makes it all the more of a natural rival to the SLK. Mercedes pretty much started the segment of hardtop roadsters by launching the first generation SLK in 1996.
The new SLK appears to incorporate design cues from the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG such as the muscular front fascia. Mercedes also advanced their … CONTINUED
Car and Driver has published the results of its annual 2011 Lightning Laps showdown at VIR, which includes several BMWs including the M3, 335i, Z4, and 135i. Check out their full lap time results inside.
Edmunds has pitted the 2011 550i (F10) against the 2011 Infiniti M56. Both are mid-sized sedans powered by powerful V8 motors. Does the M56 have what it takes to unseat the 5-series as the gold standard in the mid-size sedan category? See the review for the verdict.
Mercedes-Benz released the first details and pictures of the facelifted C-Class yesterday. As always, it’s a fun exercise to compare direct competitors, so let’s see how the new facelifted C class fares against the E90 LCI which was presented back in 2008.
Here’s an older but great review by well respected auto journalist Chris Harris track testing the X6 against some considerably more expensive (and powerful) competitors – the Cayenne Turbo, ML63 AMG, and Q7 V12. The SUV/SAVs are driven around a small and fairly technical track where the X6 turns in an impressive performance. Video and results inside.
While we’re all still drooling over the unveiling of the 1-Series M Coupe, some might wonder how it will fare against what will possibly be its biggest rival – the Audi RS3. We can already hear some moaning ‘coupe vs hatchback, RWD vs AWD and manual vs double clutch’ to stress both cars aren’t even rivals, but look at the specs to see that both a pretty close in power, size and price. Enough said, here it is, all pictures and information you need to make … CONTINUED
The 1 series M coupe is said to complete the Nurbrugring lap in 8:12. For comparison, this is 10 seconds faster than E46 M3, same time as Z4 M-coupe, 7 seconds slower than the E90/E92 M3, and 22 seconds slower than the E46 M3 CSL.
BMW has posted a useful comparison chart of the 1M coupe versus the Audi TT-RS and Cayman S which shows that the 1M stacks up favorably against two cars which are significantly more expensive in price (both nearly $20k higher in price). The 1-series M coupe ties the TT-RS for highest horsepower, and leads in the torque and power-to-weight ratio categories. Check out the full comparison inside.
One of the F10 5-series’ arch rival – the new Audi A6 was just recently revealed last week. Although the test drive reviews will trickle in over time as the car gets into the press’ hands, here is a preliminary comparison of the two sedan’s ascetics and styling.
