Audi’s all new Q3 has just been released, which was not unexpected considering Audi has a vehicle in every segment that BMW has one.
The new Q3 is certainly aesthetically pleasing, but when I first saw it, I didn’t have a strong reaction one way or the other. I think that is a function of the fact that like most Audis today, it is fairly similar to every other Audi product, especially the Q5. So while it’s not ugly, it is a bit booring to me.

We undertook yesterday a photo comparison of the F10 M5 concept versus the E60 M5 concept. But how does the F10 M5 compare to its direct German rivals – the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG and the Audi RS6. Let’s take a look below.

The F10 M5 concept was officially unveiled online today [official photos/video/info] to much excitement and anticipation. The F10 M5 represents the successor to the now fabled E60 M5, which began production in 2005 and ended last year. You probably guessed it after today’s unveil of the revised Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe, here’s the ultimate photo comparison between the Merc, the Audi RS5 and the beloved E92 M3 in Competition Package trim. Looks are of course in the eyes of the beholder, but we also think she compares favorably against the predecessor E63 6-series coupe, inside and out. Here is an updated comparison of the now officially released C63 AMG facelift photos versus the E90 M3 sedan.
Unlike the CLS 63 AMG, the C63 AMG is still powered by the naturally aspirated 6.2 l V8, rated at 451hp and 443 lb-ft in the C63. Most significant changes are the switch from the traditional 7-speed auto to the AMG-MCT7 and the introduction of a Start/Stop feature. It’s uncertain however if the latter will make it to the US.

BMW recently unveiled first details on their new 2 litre inline-4 TwinPower Turbo petrol engine. In terms of this engine’s competitors, the first thing that comes to mind in terms of competition is Audi’s 2.0TFSI engine. They currently run two engine generations, the older EA113 as still found in the TT-S and the newer EA888 powering virtually all 2.0TFSI models. The latter also includes Valvelift which is roughly comparable to BMW’s Valvetronic.

German AMS has published an interesting article comparing the BMW 525d sedan with the Jaguar XF 3.0 V6 D.
Unlike the name suggests, the 525d is powered by BMW’s N57 3.0l inline-6 Diesel engine, yet with a lower output of 204hp and 450 NM (530d: 258hp). It’s quite popular in Europe because it’s the entry level inline-6 Diesel. The car tested was matched with the optional 8-speed automatic.

Mercedes pulling the wraps off their new SLK (R172) is reason enough for another photo comparison. This one is particularly interesting as BMW’s move to build the current Z4 (E89) with a folding steel roof makes it all the more of a natural rival to the SLK. Mercedes pretty much started the segment of hardtop roadsters by launching the first generation SLK in 1996.
