Watch the E90/E92 M3 take on some beefy cabrios.
Car and Driver compares three of the best performing luxury ‘coupe’ styled sedans available – the M6 Gran Coupe, Audi RS7 and Mercedes CLS63 AMG.
On paper, the M6 Gran Coupe starts from the rear position on the grid with the lowest factory power figures and RWD (for acceleration). Its 560 hp / 501 lb-ft were short of the RS7′s 568 hp / 516 lb-ft and the CLS63′s 585 hp / 590 lb-ft. The RS7 and CLS63′s AWD system also give them the 0-60 advantage, in theory.
How did these figures translate to real world performance tests? In a rolling start, the BMW was quickest, covering 5-60 mph in 4 seconds, which was 0.1 seconds faster than the CLS63 and 0.4 seconds faster than the RS7. From … CONTINUED

CAR recently undertook a premium hot hatch comparison, featuring the M135i against the Mercedes A45 AMG and the Audi S3 (full review). Here’s how the trio stack up on paper:
The M135i serves up 320 HP and 332 LB-FT (450 Nm) from its 3 liter turbo N55 engine, mated to the 8 speed automatic ZF transmission and is RWD.
The Mercedes comes with the most power, but is also the most expensive out of this group, powered by a 360 HP / 332 LB-FT (450 Nm) 2-liter turbo engine and driven by a 7 speed dual clutch transmission and AWD.
The Audi S3 tested here has 300 HP and 380 Nm of torque from its 2 liter engine, 6 speed manual and AWD.
Here’s how they compare when tested.… CONTINUED
BIMMERPOST member and owner of the first M6 Competition Package in the UK shares with us his review of his brand new F13 M6 Coupe with Competition Package, comparing it against his previous M6 Coupe, which was an early launch-spec car.
This review gives particular good insight into just how much/little difference the M6 Competition Package gives. Here’s his review:
Contrary to the majority of car nuts (in the UK anyway!), I do like my M6′s, having also owned a previous E63 shape a few years ago – they just seem to suit what I like in a car very well…..breathtaking thrust mixed with impeccable build quality and refinement without being as barge-like as the even bigger coupe’s like the Bentley GT or Mercedes CL.
